This was Christian Death's crowning glory of their early peak - Only the second album but they would never release anything as good again. This re-issue mixes up the track order a little which disturbs the continuity of the original but doesn't take away from the incredible musicianship of this fantastic release.

Brilliant Goth Album, Christian Death arguably at their best. Much softer and somewhat slower than modern goth. Beautifull with a weird dark mood. Definately a must-have for any goths!

I am one of a minority of Christian Death fans - meaning I much prefer Valor's Christian Death to Rozz Williams'. Both these artists feature on this release, since it is the last album before Valor took over the band completely.
I find Rozz's vocals strained and monotonous, and the production sounds too smooth, dated, very 'eighties'. Fortunately for Valor fans like myself, with every release since, Christian Death has become harder, heavier - less 'eighties' goth and edgier, darker metal. This is not the album to go for if you are wondering what this band is all about... only if you want to know what it WAS like.
In my opinion, any budding Christian Death listener should first acquire Valor's "Sexy Death God" and compare it to Rozz Williams' "Only Theatre Of Pain" (much more interesting than 'CB') before deciding which version of this band to go for.

Awesome. Tied for BEST C.D. disc. 3 Jan. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This, along with Only Theatre of Pain, is the best of all C.D. discs. This came out when Rozz and Valor were both in the band. It reflects Rozz's creativity and Valor's innovational musical ideas. And hey, Gitane can sing! If you can only buy one C.D. disc, buy this one! Then buy Only Theatre of Pain also!

A Bravado of Haunting Suites for the Lost Souls... 22 Aug. 1999

A painted mosaic filled with twilight essence and ghostly somberness. Catastophe Ballet is truly a hallmark for the band where refinement and craftmanship come together. Feel the beautiful chill of Gitone Demone's siren-like voice complete this masterpiece. This is a great CD to curl up with. Bury yourself with everything else Christian Death has to offer...

Fantastic, so unlike their other disapointments 5 Nov. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
There have been three totally different bands that fall uner the Christian Death umbrella. The first was Rozz William's punk band that made only one record (theatre of pain) an okay record. The second band is the one that made this marvelous disk, and it's even better live version "The Decomposition of Violets". Once Rozz left, Valor called his band Cristian Death, and everything released after the mid 80's has been c-grade Goth drivel.
