5.0 out of 5 stars Great solution 22 Feb 2012
By Phil
So impressed when you order something and it arrives earlier than expected and then lives up to expectations!
I wanted to connect my Sky+ box and Blu-ray player in my living room to the broadband router in my study but didnt want to run a second cat5e cable. This splitter looked like the perfect solution and it is!
Simply connect the Sky+ box and Blu-ray player into one of the splitters using 2 cat5e cables.
Then using a male to male connector to connect to the existing cat5e cable.
At the other end another in the study then connect using male to male connector to other supplied splitter.
Finally, use 2 cat5e cables to connect the splitter to two ports on the broadband router.
And thats it - it works great!
I can stream Sky Anytime+ and BBC iPlayer simultaneously with no problems even on a broadband line that rarely reaches 3mb!

Please note this only works on 10/100 ethernet routers and switches. There are 8 wires in a cat5e cable and only 4 are used in 10/100 ethernet. This not surprisingly uses (splits!) 4 wires to each device.
This will NOT work with gigabit (1000) ethernet as that system uses all 8 wires in the cat5e cable.

Finally, on the product itself - it's very well made and a quality product. Excellent value especially as its sold in pairs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Neat idea 20 Jun 2011
By Gerry M
What a great bit of kit and a fantastically simple idea. I needed a solution to running my PS3 and Sky Anytime+ via cable (I have a gigabit home network) from a single ethernet outlet and this works perfectly. I have a router in the loft with one port to the lounge, it had a spare port and hey presto! - 2 ethernet links for the price of one. Only took a couple of minutes to fit as well - I cannot praise this idea enough.
I just need Sky to turn on my Anytime+ - they are the most infuriating company, but that's another story....

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the Job Well 2 Feb 2011

This does what its meant to do and does it very well .. It will not give you an extra output from your modem, router or hub.. It can however give you an extra port from a faceplate outlet, but it will still use an extra connection at the other end into your router/switch/hub .. Simply put (as best I can) it allows you to have 2 seperate 100mb lan connections running along a single ethernet cable, giving you 2 outputs instead of one, but also requiring 2 inputs from the other end.. Hence why these adaptors have to used in pairs..

The kit works exactly as it says in the literature. It is relatively easy to install in your network and works with very little overhead,
