As a cat novice I bought this book a few days before my first ever kitten arrived adn I can truly say it is fab. I've been doing loads of research on cats, but I'm recieving a lot of conflicitng advice, so it was nice to find a book that talks about cats as cats and not as small children.

She takes you through different stages of a cats life and different behaviours using case studies and tales of her own cats very effectively. It's given me loads of food for thought and is the first book on cats I have read that I really feel I have learned something from.

I bought this book as I was having problems with my cat soiling in the house and my partner wanted him out! Vicky's clear and concise explanations have solved the problem quickly (within 1 day in fact and the problem was ongoing for some months) and we are a happy family again including the cat! This really is a delightful book, I was glued and I read it cover to cover. I haven't read a book for some years but it was easy to get into. There were tears, laughter and surprises throughout and I highly recommend this to anyone with a cat or thinking of introducing a cat into their lives. Thanks Vicky!

As an "experienced" cat owner (including previously "stray" cats), I found this book both enjoyable and informative. A good read that I will continue to use for reference. If you own a cat/kitten, or are thinking about doing so, by this book it's a must have.

Not so confidential
Having had a cat for 10 years, I found this book very basic. It barelly touches on cat behaviour, and unfortunatelly the author talks more about herself than the cases. Read more

Not one for cat lovers
This book is dreadful. It is a sad catalogue of cat owners and their ignorance and every chapter contains at least one self-aggrandising anecdote of the author weaving her 'magic'. Read more
