Words cannot express how confused I am concerning the torrent of poor review scores this game has gotten. I have literally nothing to gripe about this game.

Gameplay is smooth and elegant: the combat builds on the already fantastically fluid system introduced with the first game, traversal is fun and engaging, and there is plenty to explore.

The issue most people seem to be having is with the "tacked on" stealth style sections of the game. As a fan of stealth games I found no quarrel with these sections, as they broke up the pace nicely between large battles as well as incorporating more of The Prince of Darkness' Vampiric abilities into the game. It enriches the experience!

I've never been someone to judge a game massively on a graphical standing, as I feel this detracts from the core of a game. However in this case, the visuals given to us in this game are truly stunning, I often found myself just sat there staring at the scenery or gasping at the visual delight that is the variety of combat animations.

One thing I really don't get is everyone's problem with the plot and acting. I can only assume these people simply don't understand what is happening properly or didn't get involved enough in the story from the beginning. I recommend that the first two games (Lords of Shadow 1 and Mirror of Fate) are either played or at least watched through, as the story leading up to this installment is not best portrayed or explained by the short cut-scene at the beginning. The acting is fantastic on the most part. Some of the side character's voice actors left a little to be desired, but the main cast are brilliantly written and sincere in their performances.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good game with a few flaws 14 Mar 2014

Having just completed this game on difficulty, I must say please ignore the negative reviews that have plagued this game since it's release. Lord of shadows is a good game.
The game kicks off immediately after the events of it's predecessor which sees our hero Trevor Belmont embrace the dark side and become that very thing which he swore to fight against.Dracula. In this sequel, our Beloved Belmont/Dracula is saddled with the responsibility of hunting down Satan and his 'acolyte' minions before they take over the world while seeking the antidote to rid infected humans of a virus that has transformed them into Satan's foot-soldiers.
Because the story unfolds in present day, our..hero's mission and battles revolve around a science lab, dark and murky street corners and old abandoned buildings. Although as the story progresses, you get to play in the medieval environment that Castlevania is known for.

Gameplay is quite good and solid. It reminds you of Devil may cry. Buttons are really responsive. Also You have a wide range of moves to unlock but you will probably be interested in...2 or 3 tops. It might be important to add that you can no longer double jump and this might cause a few frustrations but as you delve into the story, you are granted a very special gift (Which I won't spoil). Unfortunately, this comes towards the end of the game when the player has not much use for it.
Now what's with the stealth complaint? I actually found it interesting (though not exciting). It does not hamper the flow of the game in anyway.
When it comes to the bossbattles, I actually found the battles quite intense and satisfying. I personally enjoyed the toy-maker battle, Demon on a train fight and Evil blood Trevor fight above others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the poor reviews 2 Mar 2014

Im genuinely angry at the reviews this game has gotten so far, Lords of shadow 2 betters the first one in almost every way. The world looks amazing if not breathtaking at times, the modern day setting is strange at first but you soon realise how well designed it is and i found it great fun to explore. Dracula also has the ability to travel back to his old castle which old school castlevania fans will feel right at home with. The enermy designs are also fantastic both in the modern and old setting, you will see some horrible/beautiful looking things along your journey and this mixed with the grusome combat gives Kratos the god of war himself a run for his money. The gore and violence are taken to a new level and this feels right at home as your playing as The prince of darkness himself....Dracula not Ozzy Osbourne. Hearts are torn out and eaten, switches are activated with your own blood. It rocks! but aint for the faint of heart.
If you liked the last one then you will love this. i was on the edge of my seat after the first part, the story grabbed me straight away.
Egnore the reviews. The world looks amazing, the stealth sections are very easy and short. dont let the major sites that rate COD with 8s and 9s everytime harm the sales of this varied and well designed game.

2.0 out of 5 stars did the developers even want to make this game?
The first game was probably my most loved multiplatform title of last gen, but this just didn't cut it for me. The combat's OK, the world isn't anything special to get entised in. Read more
