The early Gothic Voices CDs often feature rather 'miscellaneous' programmes, but this is seldom a drawback - and certainly not on this CD. In the hands of this group, the centre-piece works by Binchois and Dufay are matched by those of lesser composers. Robert Morton in particular comes through strongly as a neglected master, in the later style of Dufay-like tunefulness which is very appealing to modern ears. I recall a review (Gramophone?) asking rhetorically whether Morton's "Le souvenir" might be the most attractive of all medieval tunes, and its companion pieces are also well worth hearing. I've loved this CD for years.
