This book is about a young travelling musician called Lir who is 'summoned' to a castle where a girl called Lilune lives. This girl is locked up in the castle all of the time by two old hags who pretend to be doing the best for her. She, however realises that they should't be keeping her there especially now that she realises that she has special powers. She has never seen daylight as she only wakes up in the night and sleeps all day. In this book Lir manages to rescue Lilune and tries to take her around with him. They have an amazing number of adventures, all to do with a dark evil that follows them everywhere...
I have not given this book five stars because it is not as good as some of the other Tanith Lee books that I have read(Claidi series in particular!) If it was by a different author then I might have given it five. It is definately worth getting though. Just makes sure that you get the Claidi ones AFTER you get this or you may find yourself expecting a lot more!

They have an amazing number of adventures however, as they are followed by a 'dark force' the whole time. The reason I have not given this book five stars is because compared to other Tanith Lee books it is not that brilliant(Claidi series in particular). If it had been by a different author I may have given it five. I still recommend this book though. It is definately worth getting , but get the Claidi one's AFTER reading this-you may expect too much otherwise!
