Good Starter Jewelry Mold

When I discovered the fun of resin casting I was looking for a mold for jewelry. This is one of the only ones on the market. Some of the shapes were great and really suited my purpose. The big ovals, big rectangles, little ovals, hearts and long rectangles are all good. Look great and give good results. Some suck and don't look great. The drops and octagon for example. I ended up cutting out the shapes I used and tossing the others. They also wear out fast. I already need a new mold after about 15 castings. I guess that's why they're so cheap?
It is a good starter mold though to get the hang of what you like and experiment. You don't need a release agent with them, but you do need to let dry for 2 days for easy release.

Dull finish with resin

I agree with a previous review of this mold. This is not a good mold for resin casting. I bought it on the assumption that it was a "good starter mold" only to find that the pieces I cast came out dull and matte, because that's the finish of the mold itself. If you want a shiny finish on your pieces, get the Deep Flex mold, or also some silicone molds have a shiny finish as well. I used silicone ice cube trays and they come out beautifully. No amount of treating or conditioning THIS mold will make your pieces shiny. Know what to buy. Hope this was helpful. :)

This is a durable product. With the use of mold release everything pops out so easy. Also, if you fill each pod up to the top it is a lot easier to get the object out. It's a lot of fun and very useful in making jewelry.
