A HANDHELD TV! IT WORKS! THATS GOTTA BE GOOD!, 1 July 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Casio TV-970 Handheld Colour TV 2.3" LCD (Electronics)
7 years ago I was flicking though a catalogue and found what I believed to be the perfect Chrismas present, a handheld TV. It took alot of effort to persuade my parents into getting me one. And when I got it I realised my effort was a pure waist of breath. The terrible picture, the awful reception, the 6 chunky C batteries which lasted half an hour and that evil-to-the-eye screen. I Soon gave up on it.
Knowing technology has improved since then, I desided to give handheld TV's another try. And believe me this Casio TV has made all the difference. Attractive, small and very effective. The picture quality is fantastic, the battery life is reasonable enough and the reception is good enough for me.
Trigger Happy TV (the good points)
The unit looks even better than it does on the box!
Auto tunning, waists no more than a second to switch channels.
Top picture quality
Its the cheepest you can get and its the best as well, mainly because it has the longest battery life (4.5 hours on a set of 4 AA, the more expensive modals last 2 hours on the same number of batteries)
A/V input. Alows you to use the TV with DVD players, VCRs and camcorders (Nice one!)
Pop Idol (the bad points)
Will only work in the UK, no use abroad.
A bit heavy
Performance with DVD player and VCR is terrible because the picture is overwhelmed with white, making it hard to make out whats going on.
When to deploy your Casio pocket TV?
On long car, coach or train journeys
When its the world cup, wimbledon or something like that.
At school, provided that you going to be sly about it!
Whenever you want to!
Buy it?
YES!

Casio TV-970. Great for those short outdoor trips., 14 Dec 2002
This review is from: Casio TV-970 Handheld Colour TV 2.3" LCD (Electronics)
This product Casio TV-970 is one of the latest models of portable TV in Asia region. Although it does not have TFT screen, this product gives good picture quality for TV. I am impressed by the pipcture quality from this small TV. However, when plugged into the AV input to a VCD player, it gives overly bright picture such that the picture appears whitewashed out. This is a big minus point if you often plug in video signals from sources like VCR, DVD etc into this TV. Another good thing is this TV can also be used in cars. The optional full range of car accessories are available for this TV. However, as always, there is always short battery life. But this TV is considered to have long life compared to its other counterparts of about 4.5 hrs.(others about 3 hrs) It consumes power of about 3.1 Watts. Overall, I find this product good in performance and quality for its price [...]. Good for those short camping trips...But remember to bring those extra batteries!!!
