5.0 out of 5 stars Casio wonder watch 10 Jan 2012

This watch is a real conversation piece. It has everything except the kitchen sink, and still light as a feather because of its titanium structure. Really great price considering all of its functions and I love it to bits. Well done Amazon.

By Chris TOP 1000 REVIEWER
I use this watch for fieldwork. The compass acts as a backup backup compass, in case I lose my proper compass and for some reason the electronic compass in my GPS fails! The altimeter will need to be calibrated whenever you want to use it, done simply by entering your current known elevation above sea level.

Titanium and plastic makes the watch nice and light
Multiple alarms are brilliant
I've only used the world time once, but it worked without a hitch
The radio controlled time is accurate and reliable here in the UK
It's built like a tank and will take a lot of abuse
Backlight LED

The watch is pretty chunky
The watch face markings and hands aren't luminous in the dark (Casio has released an updated model with luminous painted hands)
Only 100m water resistant, my dress watch is more water resistant!
The bracelet is pretty heavy and pinched my skin/hairs. I quickly replaced it with a NATO watch strap.
Backlight only illuminates the analogue hands

If you need a watch for work outdoors, look no further. It's a little big for day-to-day use, though I'm sure some people with larger hands and wrists won't have an issue. Even though it has a backlight, I'd have much preferred it if the hands and markings were luminous too. 4 out of 5 stars, losing 1 star based on the poor backlight, lack of luminous hands, and only 100m water resistance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended 28 Nov 2011

I feel this is a smart watch, albeit with a high geek content! The titanium strap definitely adds to the appearance. I agree with all the previous reviewers comments. I also owned a previous ProTrek triple sensor that was entirely digital and with a rubber strap. I like the combination of analogue and digital on this model, which adds to wrist-appeal. The compass function appears less accurate because of the second hand's limited resolution but its possible to get a digital bearing too. The solar charging function appears to work well - after an initial charge it has remained at a high level without me doing anything special.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb.. as expected 7 Nov 2011
Verified Purchase
had the old protek's and had to get the latest version.. does all the things the previous versions do but brings the top of the range more upto date into a fantastic looking package.. with the added benefit of it self-adjusting (where appropriate) to incredibly accurate local time using radio technology.

protek's are a must for travellers, hikers, explorers and mountaineers.. you genuinely do use the gizmos that the watch has to offer..

the world timer, which is one of the main features i need, is a lot more 'fiddly' and less easy to access different time zones than the all digital older versions. The analogue fascia takes prominence which gives you doubts but i think it works..Also the digital display 'could' have been bigger (somehow) but i think they will sort that in futures versions i guess..

have a smaller than average wrist but actually prefer the better quality titanium strap all day long rather than go for the rubber strap version in the similar lower model.

when it's on your wrist you are just itching to show it off !

Overall am very happy with my buy on Amazon given how expensive they are from other watch etailers

Bottom Line: looks quality, feels quality and is quality!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fancy yet rugged watch 19 May 2012
Verified Purchase
This watch is a beauty. It can be worn as both a work watch or dress watch. It is quite functional. It is important to note that the thermometer only works accurately if the watch has been off of the wrist for @ 30 mins., it is very sensitive to body temperature. So, if you want to get temperature readings, you can't do so when the watch is on your wrist. Otherwise, this is a solid product with various functions. It seems to be very high quality and looks like it will be durable, but I cannot say for sure since I have only had it a week.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Watch 21 Sep 2012
By Central

I have had this watch for four months and it just does what I want and need.
It arrived in good time. I had to pay a local shop to remove some of the links to make it fit me but it was still a bargain.
I've just been to the USA and appreciated the world-time mode which was easy to set up. I normally have the barometer on all the time and being able to combine this with the time is perfect for me.
Negatives: still a bit heavy but you get used to it; the watch isn't super slim but there getting better.
Best watch I've ever had.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice watch... but not especially accurate 21 Aug 2012
Verified Purchase
It's a Casio, so you know pretty much what you're going to get. A reliable, reasonably well-built watch that looks good.

I bought this for the solar power (not for the money saving aspect, as there is none, but for the convenience of not having to visit our local watchmakers, where grumpiness is the order of the day if you ask for a battery replacement in a watch he didn't sell you!) and the sensor functions.

But don't trust the measurement facilities for anything other than novelty. I found the temperature over-reading by 6 degrees (when left off the wrist) but have since calibrated. Altitude under-reads and compass is a little inconsistent, but they are fun things to have. Barometer seems to be absolutely bang on though.

Is this watch overpriced? Yes - very probably - but then if you need accurate instruments, you'd probably not even be looking at something like this.

Bottom line: if you want a watch but with bells and whistles as a talking point / novelty, it's worth thinking about. If you are after science-grade accuracy, walk on by.
