I couldn't decide between this watch and the AWG-101-1AER which retails for about £10 less. This watch is the newer model and supports 6 radio bands while the older model supports 5 radio bands. The newer model has a feature to move the hands so you can see the circular displays.

I've currently got a Casio Sea-Pathfinder watch which was too big and heavy. This watch is 1cm smaller in diameter and about a 1/3 of the weight. My previous G-Shock (which went missing at a large Swedish furniture store in Warrington) had a similar feel, but the strap wasn't as nice as this watch. This strap is nice and supple.

I do like a good complain though... Like most Casio watches, the date format is MM/DD and not DD/MM. The reverse LCD (white on black) can be difficult to see in certain light, but the white hands are quite visible. While the G-Shock watches are (almost) impossible to break, experience says it's usually the watch strap that will break first.

This is one of the first Solar + Waveceptor G-Shocks I'm happy with wearing in leisure time and also suitable for the office. Being a G-Shock it can handle being thrown around the house by my 2 and 4 year olds.

I really want to like this watch, and actually I do, but as many others have said in their reviews the inverted LCD digital display is not readable except in very good light. My eyesight is very good and when I'd heard others complain about this point I figured they probably couldn't see so well but in fact they were right.
It's a pity because the watch is otherwise really excellent. It's not as big as some g shock watches (I have quite thin wrists and "big" watches look ridiculous on me. This one fits well and looks great.
I love the all black with white hands styling. It makes the analogue face very easy to read in any light, and even in total darkness the luminous markings on the hands are clear.

The watch feels very robust and is feature packed. It's not completely straight forward to use and I do still have to refer back to the manual from time to time (little things like changing the time zone when travelling - it requires pressing two buttons at once and it's easy to forget which ones!) but for basic day to day use of features like the stopwatch etc it's reasonably intuitive - as long as the light is bright enough to read the inverted LCD display.

I recently travelled to India and so wasn't able to receive any radio signal there. The quartz movement without radio correction is pretty accurate - it gained around two seconds over a week which isn't too bad.

Would I recommend this watch? Yes, but I'd suggest going for the version of it which isn't all black as it has a normal LCD display which will still be possible to read even in dim light. The styling may not be as attractive as this all black version but at least you'll be able to read the digital part in most light conditions.

Watch was a gift for my husband - he loves it! It's like a mini computer. Great style and loads of extras. Would highly recommend.

The main features I was looking for in a new watch were as follows:

* It had to be solar
* Waterproof as I am outdoors a lot
* Worldtime
* Can take a knock or two (or three or four...)
* Has an alarm

This watch had all those things and more (the "more" - stop watch, countdown timer, and hourly chime aren't of any interest to me).

The biggest plus is that this watch looks awesome and is a pleasure to wear (light and fits against my wrist nicely).

However.....there are a few negatives that I'll share.

First off, the alarm - one of the key features I wanted in a watch - has such a low volume that I will need to ensure that I have a travel clock or some other alarm (I don't own a mobile phone). Pretty disappointed about that. So if an alarm is an important function, I wouldn't recommend this watch.

The other negative is that the digital displays are hard to read if the light isn't just right. Not huge deal, but still a negative for a watch that looks so awesome (did I mention that the watch looks awesome?!).

I'm also not a huge fan of the watch band (quite cheap looking) and we'll see how it lasts.

Purchased this watch when price was reduced just after the new year.
I have always liked Casio watches and thought this looked very cool on the website.
After getting the watch and wearing it , I have the following negative comments.
The watch has a light button , but when used the light does not light up hardly any of the watch face.
It also doesnt light up the date or day.
It not a backlit light , just a beam that tries to illuminate the watch face but fails to do so.

Watch itself is well built and feels of a good quality.

This is a very nice looking G-shock, but I just can't believe how poor the light on it is. And also the digital dials don't light up. Must say, I wouldn't of bought it if I'd of known.

I had been looking at the AWG series for quite a while and decided on the stealthy black face being my choice - I loved the look of the AWG-101 but I didnt like the idea of the hands in the way of the dials - so its as if G-shock read my mind with the AWGM.

On first impression it all looks a bit confusing, but after reading through the manual (what has the world come to, reading manuals for a watch) and a bit of persistence I managed to set the watch up.

I love the idea of the light coming on when you turn the watch up to you face, little touches like that really show the workmanship gone into the watch.

People complain about the dials not being lit, that seems a bit of a given so if you don't like it don't buy it, personally I love how stealthy the watch face looks. The tips of the hands glow in the dark so you don't even need to use the light at night. When you do use the light however, that even looks stylish as it up lights the face.

The watch is very light and feels comfortable on the wrist, and is remarkably easy to use once you know what buttons are for what, its taken me about a day to learn everything I need to.

There aren't really any points off the top of my head, if I do come across any then I'll edit the review appropriately.
