Title: A Case of Wild Justice?
AUTHOR: Yvonne Jerrold
What once was is now no more. Hannah sadly marveled at how life had changed over the years in her hamlet of Walnut Close. When she and her husband Hugo first took up residence it was almost idyllic, but now it was as though the social fabric had been torn in shreds. Youth were running wild through the neighborhood, seemingly unstoppable. Her own house had been burglarized and her sister had been terribly traumatized by a group of youth who had destroyed her garden. They even destroyed her favorite tree. How were Hannah and the other residents of Walnut Close to defend against such a menace if the authorities seemed impotent in this task? The Silver Bees offered a suggestion, but this suggestion carried a terrible price of its own. Only at the end of this book will the reader find out, maybe.
If a reader is looking for a book with a lot of action told at a fast pace with immediate shock and gratification then this book is not the one to pick up and read. Ms Jerrold has crafted a slow moving, yet engrossing tale of the changes and experiences one encounters in life told mainly through the viewpoint of Hannah, a widowed, retired teacher. The reader will learn of Hannah's life through flashbacks that have a direct bearing on how she relates to the present.
This book comes to the reader highly recommended because of its very nature. It's a well written story that moves at a steady pace towards the end. So few books written today can do this without the gimmicks of gore and gratuitous sex. This one succeeds admirably and is a credit to the author's skill and talent.
Yvonne Jerrold is an already published author of other novels and short stories. It is hoped that this is not the last in a burgeoning career of excellence

Wild Justice indeed, 24 Aug 2009
This review is from: A Case of Wild Justice? (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the best by the author so far in my opinion. Easy to read and get into with good character development and a fun plot. Jerrold has captured a certain sub-sector of society with elegance and portrayed them in print for our amusement wonderfully. Highly recommended.

This review is from: A Case of Wild Justice? (Paperback)
There is no let up in tension from beginning to end... Something went badly wrong early on in Hannah's life, something so bad she couldn't tell anyone, least of all those closest to her. But when the past catches up with the present and teenage violence erupts on her doorstep, Hannah considers she has no alternative but to seek wild justice. A very skilfully crafted novel, full of thought-provoking insights.
