Having just upgraded to the HTC Desire having dropped my iPhone 3G, royally breaking the screen, I thought it best I preempt my clumsy persuations and protect my new gadget before any damage comes upon it.

Having been into literally every mobile phone shop in Birmingham, I established that there is nothing out there in the shops for this phone at the minute. Which is good, as it led me to searching online and finding this gem of a case.

Having not been a fan of cases in the past, I wanted something that was sleek, and dare I say it... barely there.

It came well packaged, with clear instructions.

The case itself is great. Your phone just pops in there and stays put, it seems really well engineered. It's actually quite a hard shell as opposed to a rubber/silicone feel which is what I was sort of expecting.

The included screen protector is also great, and fits the screen perfectly. A tip though, dont try and apply it dry, it just won't work. It took a couple of attempts for it to be perfect for me, but start off by making the screen as clean as possible (hold it in the light at an angle and get off even the smallest fibre of dust). Switch off your phone. Then take the protective covers off the screen protector and give it a rinse under cold water, remembering which side is the sticky one. Shake off as much excess water as you can without getting your fingers on the sticky side and then position on the phone, wiping away any excess water quickly and using a credit card or similar to squeegy out any bubbles or remaining water. Mine is flawless now and you can't tell that theres a screen protector on at all.

The Case-Mate Barely There case is an excellent compromise between a bulky case for protection and a flimsy product which just looks good. The case adds little thickness but covers the important areas whilst still managing to look stylish. The fit is excellent and its good value for money

Minimally intrusive, sleek and stylish design as well as being a very form-fitting case for the HTC Desire.
Easy but secure fit with a single good quality screen protector, micro-fiber cloth and application card.
The case itself has a ever so-slight rubbery texture that definately helps it feel more secure in your hand.

Of course this case does not offer full protection, but what case can?
I would suggest using in conjunction with a slipcase to protect while in a pocket or wear on a belt.

Only adds a couple of mm of bulk to the phone so handily it still fits inside an official HTC case.
Probable that other slipcases fit it just as well (they all seem to loosen slightly through usage).

Could only be better if it came with a spare screen protector.

I'Case mate barely there' is a hard-form case which is vacuum moulded to snugly fit the htc desire. It is extremely thin (approx 1-2mm) with professional looking cut outs for volume and mesh for rear speaker. The barely there statement is very true, and this case reminds me of the incipio design cases for iphones which are very sleek, slim and strong.

It covers the back, sides and corners of the htc desire, however does not offer protection at the top or bottom (except corners). For me this isnt an issue, as the unobtrusive design of the case far outweighs fort Knox type protection of other cases which are ugly and bulky. Most people with a phone like this are going to look after it, and need a case to protect against daily wear and tear. I've dropped my phone several times, and case mate hasn't failed to deliver.

The one criticism I have is that the case does restrict speaker sound slightly (which makes worse the already low loudspeaker volume on desire's.

Final thing, it comes with a screen protector and a microfibre cloth (nice little bonus).

For me 5 stars on balance. Couldn't find any other cases offering this type if design.for the desire.

Being a 'newbee' to android tech phones, I was quite worried about it getting scratched or damaged & thus read many reviews before deciding to purchase this case. This really is a superb item & is simple to fit, as it just clicks into place. I am impressed with both the quality & feel of the case which really is 'barely there' & protects both the rear & corners of the HTC handset, whilst a Case-Mate screen protector (included in box) takes care of the screen. This was a little tricky to fit & I don't know if anyone else had a problem applying the screen protector, but I eventually succeeded with the help of a little water. The handset now feels very secure and has a reassuringly protective rubberised feel to it. If you want good value protection without having to cover up the stylish good looks of your HTC Desire, then this case is definately worth considering.

Had this product for a month now & first impressions were , great, snug fit & seems like it will offer protection when dropped. However, yesterday i managed to drop it out my pocket when fishing for car keys & the back corner took the main impact but the phone bounced over & the oposite corner on the front took a hit & the top corner of the screen now has cracks all over it.
For such a sensitive piece of electronic equipment I think you definitely need all round protection & not just around the back.
Gonna now buy a leather case for it costing half the price after taking the 60 quid hit for the replacement screen :-(
