Really surprised by the low average rating for this toy that I had just had to write a review. Bought this for my 3 year old son for Christmas, hoping (with the £45 price tag) it would be good quality but not confident given previous experience with toys. Yes, it takes a lot of batteries, but since Christmas we've only had to replace the ones in the car once - and it's had a lot of use. This car has been driven at full pelt (which is surprisingly fast with new batteries) into so many walls and kitchen units I'm surprised it's not in bits - but it doesn't have a scratch on it. The controls are quite difficult to master, even for the grown ups, hence the number of accidents with the wall/door/kitchen units etc, but it still looks like new and just keeps going, and despite the accidents (or maybe because of them) this toy is just pure entertainment. As well as the forward/backward/left/right controls this toy does doughnuts, revs and shakes (like at the beginning of a race) and has given my son so much fun (as well as the rest of the family) that I feel like I'm reading about a different product when I read the negative reviews. Maybe we hit lucky and got a good one (which would be a first) but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this toy - probably the best toy we've bought to date, and between my two children we've bought quite a few!
