4.0 out of 5 stars White or brown bread? 24 April 2011
Format:Audio CD
Very good debut album from this Irish band who were voted "best new hope for 2008" over here in their native land. A fair hope but probably not commercially realised. The opening track "St Christopher" from which the album title originates includes the line "i won't carry your shopping but i'll carry the meek" which is either very clever or a bit silly depending upon your point of view, good song though. It's a really fine rocky album, although i wouldn't agree with the earlier reviewer saying it was also punky, basically it's enjoyable top notch indie guitar fodder. Niamh has a lovely voice and the dual vocals with Podge mostly work well but because his voice is so deep i think he occasionally ends up drowning her out, but then again i'm biased as i prefer female vocals!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Consistently great 4 Jan 2011
Format:Audio CD
I bought this off the strength of a friend's recommendation. I wasn't disappointed - it is a phenomenal album, with the gutsiness and passion of a debut effort but a smooth finish that would make you think they'd been at it for years. This is one of those albums that doesn't have a weak link and really feels like it FITS. It is mostly rocky and a bit punky but they know how to do a slow song too, and it is great to hear two singers so complementing each other. Recommend a million times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, similar to The National 12 Mar 2011
By Hill 16 La La La - Published on Amazon.com
Loves their stuff. Very similar baritone to the National by the guy singing but the girls voice distinguishes these guys. Great album, Ashes, Keepsake and Broken glass are great tracks.
