This box set is superb. 18 films full of British Comedy at it's best for the ultimate "CarryOnathon". You can watch them over an over again and they are great to watch when you need a cheering up (ideal for a duvet day off work). The quality is also very good (although it's a shame that the "uncut" version of Carry On England has not been given the digital overhaul like the "cut" version on the same disk). Don't wait until the late night repeats on TV at xmas - buy this box set. I give it five fantastic stars.

"Blimey, you don't get many of them to the pound!", 4 May 2005

Very pleasantly surprised. The DVDs that Amazon sent me had a different packaging from the illustration, and I initially thought that they had sent me three VHS tapes. What I really got were three digistacks of six DVDs each. But I checked them, and sure enough, it contained all 18 as advertised films. Great picture quality etc. Normally, extras leave me cold, but these DVDs had a pretty special extra (no, they didn't come with a saucy middle-aged woman pretending to be a schoolgirl!)- the set that Amazon sent me also included all 13 episodes of Carry On Laughing - not a brilliant series, but it was a nice surprise. Now I'm looking forward to getting the Ultimate Collection to go with this one. I bet they'll make a smashing pair.

Well Worth Waiting For, 19 Nov 2003

"Carry On...." is a prefix that has become known throughout the entire world as one of the greatest eras of entertainment in history. Throughout the 1960s and 70s, and now well into the 90s, the "Carry On...." franchise has become lastingly popular with its films, theatre productions, museum exhibitions and TV series. Yet what makes "Carry On...." what is always has been is the character actors that blessed it. The legend that is Sid James; the camp and comical antics of Charles Hawtrey and Kenneth Williams; the boyish humor of Kenneth Connor; the gentle giant Bernard Bresslaw....and of course the "Carry On...." ladies. Now we are all treated to this DVD box-set which is an absolute gem. Each movie has an episode of the TV series "Carry On Laughing" as a special feature, plus extras on the cast and crew. There is also a Bonus DVD called "Now Thats Carry On" in which Barbara Windsor and Ken Williams reminisce about their favourite moments. It really is a moving experience because the "Carry Ons" meant so much so to all involved with them, and this is reflected greatly in the predictable but lovable performances. Watching these can really bring some joy to a grey day. The only sad thing is that Carlton have not released a full box-set of all the "Carry On....." movies, hopefully one day it will be available, but for now I suggest everybody buys this AND the other box-set available on Amazon.co.uk., you really wont regret your purchase. The films released in this box ARE the better films in the series, but anybody who knows "Carry On..." knows that they are all great fun and worth owning. The "Carry On" franchise will remain popular for as long as there is an audience to appreciate its energy....thanks to people like you and me, it should remain popular well into this century.
