IF YOU WANT A TRULY ENGLISH FILM, THIS IS IT. NOT HOW GREAT WE ARE, BUT OUR VALUES. SET IN AN ARMY CAMP, A SENIOR OFFICER IS COURT MARSHALLED. DAVID NIVEN PLAYS THIS PART AND DURING HIS DEFENCE; HONOUR, DIPLOMACY AND COURTESY ALL COME OUT. GEOFREY KEAN COMES TO THE FORE AS THE BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR. TO COIN AN OLD PHRASE ( AND A TRUISM ) " THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THAT ANYMORE."
