I have just recently read Carrier by Keith Douglass and I greatly enjoyed it. His style and fast pace use of action reminds me of Tom Clancy'searly work. A great discovery for me and I wait for Keith's other books to arrive.

I am a great fan of the Kieth Douglass Carrier series. I particularly enjoyed reading the first novel of the Carrier series,Carrier. It is a prefect blend of the Navy portraying their effectiveness in perfect unison during a crisis situation. The novel gives one a clear and
crisp view of what United States
Navy life is like in most aspects. The novel is fast paced, has loads of action, detailed flying procedures, and battle scenarios. Most characters are model naval personnel, from the attitude, to the way they handle any situation that they are put up against. I particularly enjoyed the way Douglass choreographed the battles, all the way from the man pulling the chains, to the man flying the $30 million dollar F-14 Tomcat. It is very emotional, and will make one feel that they are in the battle themselves. Overall, it is a spirited and patriotic novel that makes one want to join the Navy, or at least respect even more, after they finish.

Fantastic military fiction. 25 Dec 2011
By Raisuli the Magnificent - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is one of the great military fiction books of all time. Written by the famous Keith brothers of science-fiction fame, both penning the tome under the psuedonym "Keith Douglass", the brothers borrow and steal from some of the best military authors on the market, and roll the prose into this very impressive work about the fictional air craft carrier U.S.S. Thomas Jefferson.

Using a plethora of pop culture references for the time, and using a variety of descriptors to get the reader familiar with the layout of a CVBG (carrier battle group), the authors have created a visual tapestry of prose that lays in with great character and scene description as the tale unfolds.

The scenario; a spook ship is lured and attacked off the coast of North Korea, and the Jefferson is sent to extract it and its crew.

The book is now somewhat dated. Tomcats are no longer the fleet defenders of choice, and Hornets back then had limited range verse the new "super Hornet", but the book is fun all the same. Buy a good used copy, and take a crack at it. You'll enjoy the tale and feel a bit of American pride burst forth.

Definitely a good read.
