Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I ordered the third edition of Carrier Grade VOIP six months prior to release due to the excellent feedback I had received from others on the previous editions. Richard Swale and Daniel Collins are both seen as industry experts and the 3rd edition shows that this with the content being kept up-to-date with current technologies and focus on HD video, SIP and VOIP over SS7 as well as others. It should be made clear that this book does not just cover carrier based technologies, but deals with maintaining quality voice and video over IP networks from the desktop through the PBX and into the carrier network. It appeals to anyone getting to grips with the technologies, experienced engineers and designers/architects.

There are currently very few books published which offer an impartial (non vendor bias) explanation of today's VOIP technologies. In my opinion, this is one of the best.

This book is well written, with a clear and concise breakdown of VOIP. The third edition is a great update on the original work.
