Carolyn Nicholls first came across the Alexander Technique in 1978. She trained with Walter & Dilys Carrington, graduating in 1981 and went on to teach privately and become involved in teacher training, first in Australia and later in Brighton. She now runs the Brighton Alexander Technique College and is a widely respected expert on the Alexander Technique. She holds an MA in AT teacher training and developed her training course academically. She is currently a principal investigator on a clinical trial examining the role of AT in back pain, and was a consultant to a previous (ATEAM) trial.
Carolyn has lectured both nationally and internationally, given three F.M.Alexander memorial lectures and been named as a second generation teacher. She wrote a monthly column on the AT for Brighton's 'The Argus' as well as contributing to many magazines, giving radio interviews and appeared on Australian TV.
Carolyn's first book, Body Breath & Being has been translated into Dutch, come out on kindle and is so popular she is writing another book, orientating the Alexander Technique around posture- which is where she sees it.
Carolyn is also a creative writer and is currently studying at West Dean College (Chichester). She writes under the name of Grace Rose Bird- who was her grandmother and wouldn't mind lending her name.
