I'm not a huge fan of the post-Tirol Chalet books, preferring the gentle innocence of the pre-war years chronicles. However, this is a well paced book, and should appeal to chalet School fans of all ages! Carola is a believable character, and the storyline, although perhaps a little predictable, is nonetheless enjoyable.

I bought this to replace my paperback version which had the final two pages missing. Good to read the full, unabridged version . Elinor Brent-Dyer holds the attention, and has a racy style which is so much better than the other school stories I read in my childhood - she has stood the test of time.
