I wrote short stories, poetry and articles for many years, getting published in small press and mainstream magazines and winning prizes in the odd competition. After a serious motorbike accident, I began writing seriously, studied for an MA in Writing Studies and later for PhD in Creative Writing which I have just completed. 'Consider The Lilies' my first published novel, which tells the story of a feral child, won the Impress Novel Prize for New Writers in 2007 and was published as a result. I'm currently working on a second novel. I live in Skelmersdale, Lancashire and much of my writing is set in and inspired by the regional landscape and the nearby city of Liverpool where I lived for many years before moving here. I'm in several writers' groups which are great for getting feedback on my work.
