I was hugely impressed with "A Desert Called Peace", but a little bit apprehensive about buying the sequel in case it didn't live up to the same standards.
My apprehension was unfounded. "Carnifex" is the second book in the Carrera series and manages to be even better than the first book.
The author packs in a lot of technical detail to satisfy military geeks, but where half of "Desert" was about how Carrera goes about building an army from scratch, "Carnifex" launches straight into the action and never stops.
This is a gripping story about war, honour, brutality and revenge. I found myself staying up late just to see what would happen next. The ending is shockingly violent, but brilliantly conceived and written. I bought the next book in the series immediately after finishing.

Read this as part of series, has some strong right wing views ( but not all bad and some quite entertaining) can get a bit lecturing from author in some parts BUT a very GOOD read. Would read other styles from this author to see if as good in other genre
