I bought this book as an exiled Carlisle fan living in Dorset and it really is a cracking read. I have quite a few club histories from the Breedon Book catalogue and this, putting all bias aside is the best. You can tell that it's written by someone who is passionate about the club and is a warts and all history. The author doesn't pull any punches about the Michael Knighton era and gives an honest account about what is a really rollercoaster history.
The only slight down side for me is that a few of the attendances are missing, not just from the early years. This is unusual for a Breedon Book but that is the only slight negative amongst a host of positives. If you love Carlisle or just have a passion for english clubs, buy this, you'll love it
