In the spirit of Play with Your Food, Carl Warner s Food Landscapes is a colourful and fantastically imaginative collection of landscapes constructed entirely from fruits and vegetables, cheeses, breads, fish, meat, and grains. The book offers a trip around the world in 25 international tableaux constructed from appropriate regional ingredients. Each photo is spectacular on its own, but the effort constructing it is equally fascinating. Every image in the book is followed by an essay about the creative process and stories from the photo shoots, as well as behind-the-scenes material such as preliminary sketches, making-of photos, detail shots, and a list of the ingredients and their position in the final picture.

I bought this after seeing some of Warner's photos online. They are truly amazing - and this book explains how they were made. I particularly like the list of ingredients for each photo. It's really good fun just to study the pictures. Children enjoy finding things in the pictures - teachers might well find useful ideas here.

From initial sketches and the discussions with clients, through the trials of the painstaking experimentation & construction process, to the finished photographs, this book explains it all.
The photographs are stunning and the text is highly engaging.
This is sure to inspire countless classroom displays and you will never look at broccoli the same way again.

I've been a fan of Carl Warner's work for a few years now. But to actually see his work in print and his explanation on how he took them is fantastic. I got this book as a birthday present and I had to read it from cover to cover in a day as it was so interesting. I loved how he tells you a story behind the image. How he came up with the idea and then the task of making it happen.
Definatly my favourite photography related book. I can't wait for another one.
