More About the Author

Levi Roots is a cook, entrepreneur and musician and his rise to fame is one of the UK's most heart-warming business success stories. His appearance on BBC Two's Dragon's Den resulted in two of the five judges committing £25,000 each to his Reggae Reggae Sauce brand, which is now stocked in all major supermarkets in the UK and and extended to a range of new flavours and products.

Levi also creates delicious West Indian recipes in the kitchen of his new South London eatery, Papine Jerk Centre and as a successful reggae musician; he has performed with James Brown, was close friends with Bob Marley, has sung to Nelson Mandela, and was nominated for a MOBO award in 1998. His Roots Reggae album is coming out soon.

Levi's first cookbook, the Reggae Reggae Cookbook was published last year and he currently lives and works in South London.

About the Author

Levi Roots first came to public attention when he conquered the dragons on the BBC television series Dragons' Den, winning backing for his Reggae Reggae Sauce business. The Reggae Reggae brand has since gone from strength to strength, with many new sauces and other foods being added to the range. Levi's primetime BBC television series - Caribbean Food Made Easy - followed, making Levi one of the nation's most popular cooks. Levi was brought up in Jamaica by his grandparents before joining his parents in Brixton, London, when he was 11 years old. He was taught to cook by his grandmother as a child and has enjoyed preparing Jamaican food for his family and friends ever since. He has had a long career as a musician, receiving a nomination for a prestigious MOBO award in 1998. He has a cafe and takeaway, and every summer runs his popular Rasta'urant - a stall selling Caribbean food and his famous sauce at the Notting Hill Carnival.

When I first saw Levi Roots sing his way though his 'spot' on Dragons' Den, I wondered what the consequences would be. Sometime later, I see him preparing a meal for Usain Bolt's mum and dad in Jamaica! Levi had done good - as they say.

I bought 2 copies of this book [one as a gift] and Kindled his Reggae Reggae book - the latter has lots of useful tips and guides with his recipes and the former [hard and paper back] has terrific recipes with plenty of beautiful photographs throughout. Both books give you plenty of scope to try out different recipes you may have never tried before = get cooking
