Product Description

Product Description

A practical guide to developing the knowledge and skills necessary to look after patients following an emergency admission, major surgery or unexpected complications. The theory behind good practice is covered, but the emphasis throughout is on those clinical methods and practical skills that enable the identification and correction of complications. It helps the trainee identify the patient at greatest risk, and provides a structured system to assess the patient. This is the course manual for candidates taking the critically ill surgical patient course run by the Royal College of Surgeons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good overview of a complex subject, 23 Feb 2008
By JackJack (Glasgow, UK) - See all my reviews
This book doesn't pretend to tell you everything, but its strength is that it summarises a broad range of topics, Makes it easy to grasp important information that is often lost in bigger books. 168 easy-to-read pages, and no waffle. Recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars Simply doesn't deliver, 24 Jun 2007
By Dr Good "FY1 Doc" (manchester Uk) - See all my reviews
This book promises a lot and has a very broad scope but fails to meet its goals. There's a lot of information but it is often confusing in places and makes little attempt to explain the theory behind it. This book could've been so much better.
