Product Description

Product Description

Wales' capital city Cardiff has a thriving heritage and cultural scene, and is surrounded by the beautiful vale of Glamorgan, with its coastal fringes, pleasant villages and industrial tradition. Gower, lying to the west of Swansea, offers superb scenery, glorious sandy beaches, wooded valleys, open moorland and pretty villages. It is a fascinating and uniquely interesting area with superb and varied walking country that comprises a mixture of open moorland, steep hillsides, wooded valleys, fertile lowlands and a magnificent coastline. Added to this are medieval castles, picturesque churches and attractive villages and towns.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pathfinder walking books, 4 Mar 2010

This review is from: Cardiff, Swansea & Gower (Pathfinder Guide) (Paperback)
I have sixteen of these walking books ranging across most of England & Wales so they do come highly recommended. Of all the walking books i have found them consistantly the best. Each walk contains a very detailed description of where to head for and where to turn, all of which can be clearly seen on the yellow highlighted route taken from the Ordinance Survey (Explorer) map associated to that walk. Usually within the first two pages it gives a brief discription of all the walks contained in the book along with the difficulty and distance to help make a decision on which walk to take. On the third or so page you will find a map of the whole area showing where the walks are in relation to your position. Another very helpful addition is with each walk it recommends where to park and highlights where you can get something to eat during the walk, if available. I look forward to using this book this summer as i have not walked this area before. If asked how the publishers could improve the book, the only recomendation i could make is to request a spiral back which makes them easier to lay flat in the plastic map case for viewing whilst walking.
