For any player who has played fluxx before you will not be dissapointed to this new game. It has all the hilarity of the other fluxx games, but it also comes with a new add on which really does display its self on a pedistal; yes, I am talking about the new atachable creepers. The new style of creeper (which I will expect to be in the next fluxx games) really makes winning a lot more difficult. It adds a new dimension which will be hard to replace. This game also comes with the surprise cards which originate from pirate fluxx (read my review on that). the surprises add more control over the game.

This card game just about manages to step over the copy-rights of star wars, star trek, hitchikers guide and many other space related franchises, but it still manages to keep them in. for example you can have the 2 keepers: Time traveler and the doctor. these to alone are not sciency, but put them together and you have the goal 'what doctor? wher' (a clever re-word of doctor who!) another funny part is the intergalactic travel guide which has 'stay calm' on it rather than 'don't panic'.

I really would recomend this game, the game time is from 20 secs (I actually finished a game that quickly) to 3 hours (that was a labourious game). It is a family game which is perfect. but it does take a few games to get used to it!

Being a Fluxx player for several years, and a complete sci fi geek, I leapt on this when it came out. It is great fun, but NOT a good way to introduce new players to Fluxx. There is a substantial level of complexity added by the fact that many Keepers have additional powers, and there are more Creepers. This makes the games longer and requires more focus & concentration. Like all Fluxx games, tho, once you get past the learning curve, it's completely addictive.

To introduce new players, I remove all the creepers and the goals & actions involving creepers, but even then, you tend to end up with lots of rules and cards in play. if you are looking for a first Fluxx game, I recommend Pirate Fluxx (or, perhaps the standard Fluxx game. I don't know if they've added more complexity to Fluxx 4.0), because Star Fluxx really requires at least one player with experience, who must keep track of all the rules & possibilities until the rest of the players come up to speed.

Nonetheless, this is a terrific game & a welcome addition to the Fluxx family.

This is my favorite Fluxx of the 4 styles I have played. While all my other Fluxx games basically change themes, Star Fluxx has some new rules and action cards.
Sci-fi favorite! 5 April 2012

Many of the cards in this game will remind you of sci-fi and fantasy movies and television shows you have been watching for years. It's fun having them combined into one crazy card game. Fluxx games are always crazy, but this version is one of the most fun for sci-fi fans. Enjoy!
