This documentary uses period footage to profile the daring capture of German U-boats during World War Two by the Royal Navy's warships resulting in the seizure of the Nazis' Enigma machines and secret code books. Britain was now able to decode the hitherto unbreakable messages sent to the German 'Wulf Packs' which had harried the Atlantic convoys turning the hunter into the hunted and helping to change the course of the war.

Format:DVD
I was hoping when I bought this dvd to be buying a good documentary based on the true facts about enigma. Whilst the film work itself was good, the commentary is lacking. The commentator (whether by his own choosing or under direction) tries too hard and ends up being completely over the top. It's a shame as a lot of the things he is saying is quite interesting but after twenty minutes I could no longer watch the rest of the program as I found his "vampires of the sea" and other metaphors completely over the top. He's like someone trying reading the obituary page in an exciting way, I found it completely inappropriate.

This documentary is historically accurate (which I applaud) but in my personal opinon the narrator tries a bit too hard conveying the pressures and stresses endured by those involved in the Battle of the North Atlantic. I am not saying it was unnecessary, I am simply saying it is over-the-top and started to get on my wick a bit. It is a shame because the topic of the documentary is truely fascinating.
