Didn't read the other reviews before choosing this dvd. First scene - Captain Pugwash peering over the computer generated bow of a computer generated ship, sailing on a computer generated sea. Poor animation in the place of the (admittedly equally poor) animation with cardboard cut-out characters. Only for those who have never seen the original series.

My kids like this well enough, hence the Three Star rating.

However I was expecting this to be the Original series from days of yore, when animation was real animation, using real cardboard cutouts. Obviously this is not a fault with the product itself, just my expectation based on not being aware that they'd re-made the series.

Caveat emptor and all that.

Very dissapointed 1 May 2006
By NM
Expected it to be the same as the original - which was equally enjoyed by my almost 2 year old daughter and her 78 years old granddad. Just because the sea sparkles it does not necessarly mean it is a step up!

Good Value & entertaining
Although it doesn't look like the original, the music and characters are still the same and the colours and stories are entertaining. Read more

I have learned that however much we loved TV programmes in the 70s our children are used to more modern TV. Read more

Return of The Black Pig
There's no point in griping; animation today (unless it's a Hollywood film) is never as good as it was in the 60s-80s. Read more

What a con
A poor 90's remake. The packaging and other details don't make this clear - a complete con.

I'd give it no stars if I could.

Still entertains
This is not the original which took me by surprise - it is a new animation of the old programme. If you want the nostalgia, do not buy it. Read more

Dreadful
Absolutely dreadful puerile rubbish. The sexual jokes are more suited to puerile university students than children. This is NOT an original. Avoid at all cost. Read more

Very disapointed...
Not what I thought it would be, even after reading other reviews. Where has the original gone. Very sad.

No it is not the original, so I was a little bit disappointed, but my 2 boys love it, lets face it I bought it because I thought they might like it, and they do, job done! Read more
