Product Description

When Flinn first met the Pirate Dinosaurs, he thought that he had taught them a lesson. But the real lesson is this - never trust a pirate, but never ever trust a pirate dinosaur. This time, Flinn is hot on the trail of some stolen treasure and he knows exactly who's to blame. With the help of his friends and Captain Gurgleguts, fearless Flinn tracks the rotten crew to the Lost Island. So far, so good, but Flinn and his pals hadn't reckoned on the dinosaur's secret weapon - the Giganotosaurus, T-Rex's cousin and the biggest dino the world has ever known! Will our hero be able to sail out of trouble this time? And what about all that stolen treasure? Luckily, every baddie has a weak spot and it's not long before the swashbuckling Flinn fights his way to victory!

This was bought for my Pirate-Mad twins who are 4 years old and was new for holiday. 3 weeks on it is still the favourite and has to be read at least twice every night with a good old sing-song in the middle! They love this book so much they recite it almost word for word during the day as they role play it and they are even looking forward to going and seeing some dinosaurs at the museum due to the dinosaur connection too. THis book starts with Flin and his friends on a school trip to the museum when they discover the treasure of a famous pirate has disappeared. As they follow the clues they go through the cupboard and discover a land ruled by Pirates and Pirate Dinosaurs. A perfect story book that is fun to read for parents and kids a like. It has enough content to not get boring after some time and can even be used by budding 'actors' (dads I mean!) who may want to really get into characthly. Highly recommend.

A great sequel 3 Dec 2007

Format:Hardcover
If your kids (and you) like "Captain Flinn & the Pirate Dinosaurs", you'll certainly like this too. If you haven't read that, but your kids will give pirates or dinosaurs the thumbs up, then you'll find the mix of ideas here is silly but a lot of fun!
The pictures are terrific, giving just the sense of action and movement that the story calls for. And the story is suitably crazy, mixing to great effect the old tricks of 'another world through the back of the cupboard/ wardrobe' and adults' cluelessness about their childrens' adventures .
Its only weakness is how closely it follows the plot and graphic scheme of the previous book, but that's probably an unfair quibble in the world of kids' books. If it ain't broke, don't fix it - just add a dinosaur that puts its little T Rex cousin in the shade! And the customised version of Snakes and Ladders inside the back cover is a happy bonus.

Enchanting 19 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
My three year old grandson could not put this book down when we borrowed it from the library, so I bought it for his birthday. An enchanting tale of pirates and dinosaurs, it does exactly what it says on the tin! Flinn and his friends visit a museum with their teacher (and what a teacher! Was I ever like that?) and solve the mystery of the missing treausre by finding their way into the hidden world of the pirate dinosaurs. They return with the treasure only to be dismissed as fantasists of course, but along the way they have acquired knowledge of the biggest dinosaur's fatal weakness - a fear of spiders! A really lovely book for young children, superbly illustrated and highly recommended.
