As something of an Errol Flynn buff, I can reassure any of you debating whether to part with you're hard earned money on Captain Blood, that you will in no way feel dissapointed with film...
Captain Blood is ture epitomy of a rip-roaring, Swashbuckler from Hollywood's so called 'Golden Age'. Following the adventure of Peter Blood, a Doctor condemned to spend a life of slavery in the Carribean, who escapes and embarks on a life of adventure through Piracy. The story is enticing, with everything you could need for an instant classic; Injustice, Courage, Romance, Pirates, Naval Battles, fantastic acting, tremendous swordfights (espcially the duel on the beach between the two rival captains), and the merest whiff of moral undertone (the injustice of slavery).
The acting is enthusiastic (without being OTT -common in many films of this Genre and period), with Flynn on top form. All in all, an absolute classic and well worth purchasing - please dont allow the age and lack of colour to deter you from a thoroughly enjoyable film.
