I am 80yrs old and have had Cap as my favourite comic book character since I was a small boy. I lived in Liverpool then and we were being bombed heavily but we were able to get American Comic Books via the ships which survived their journey. I remember wishing then that these coloured super heroswere real and would free us from this Nazi tyranny. I applaud the gent who has arranged for Cap to be renewed and this film is full of the amazing action and movement which I could not have envisaged as a boy. It's just great watch it and enjoy it for what it is meant to be. To quote Jon Hendricks / Annie Ross " don't just dig it stay cool and wig it".

'S.H.I.E.L.D' becomes compromised by an old enemy, 'Nick Fury' with no-one else he can trust turns to 'Captain America' (Chris Evans) to step up again,
Mankind itself could be at risk if the subversive organization get the upper-hand.
'Captain America' will need help from 'Natasha(Black Widow)Romanoff' (Scarlett Johansson)
Have 'S.H.I.E.L.D' turned on it's own ? Agent 'Nick Fury' (Samuel L Jackson) is pursued barely escaping, pursued again and left for dead.
'The Captain' and 'Natasha' have a formidable enemy in 'Hydra' who have a powerful weapon
in the shape of 'The Winter Soldier' (Sebastian Stan) the deadliest enemy the 'Captain' has had to
face.
It seems that those at the very top of 'S.H.I.E.L.D' including 'Alexander Pierce'(Robert Redford)have an agenda that has very little to do with the organization they front, in fact, completely the opposite, as is demonstrated as 'Captain America' and 'Black Widow' are a target to be eliminated leaving no-one to stop 'Hydra' from imposing it's will.
The 'Captain' and 'Natasha' are joined in their quest by former war-veteran 'Sam Wilson' (The Falcon) (Anthony Mackie) the question is, have they met their match ?
The Three may need a guardian-angel to enable them continue the fight, a fight that's still to come..
'Hydra' are planning to use 'S.H.I.EL.D's' high-tech weaponry to fulfill it's evil intent, can the 'Captain' 'Black Widow' and 'Falcon' stop 'Hydra' with the help of the trusted and informed 'S.H.I.E.L.D' members, and will once friend of 'Captain America' - 'Bucky Barnes' (The Winter Soldier) remember the friendship they once shared ?
Thrills and spills a plenty in this action-packed, special effects spectacular.....superbly entertaining !!!

Brilliant Marvel Film. It's not often the sequel turns out to be better than the original but in Captain America 2 that is exactly the case. Chris Evans, Scarlet Johannsen and Samuel L. Jackson are all brilliant in returning as their Marvel alter egos. Robert Redford is a welcome addition to the Marvel universe. I would put this alongside the first Iron Man and Avengers films as the best Marvel films in recent years. Also look out for UFC Fighter GSP who turns up as a henchman who takes on Cap. Great stuff. 5 stars.

My personal favourite film of 2014 so far (amazing, since I strongly dislike the first) has arrived on ANOTHER disappointing Disney Blu Ray release. The film itself looks and sounds absolutely perfect - it really is showcase material for Blu Ray.
But not including the audio commentary, the extras add up to approximately 20 minutes.
For a quality film like this, that's just not good enough for DVD let alone Blu Ray!
This film has such a different tone for a Marvel film and felt so fresh after the slight let-downs of Thor the Dark World and Iron Man 3. Its feels grittier, with a very practical visual style and Captain America walks away from this film as my favourite Avenger.
I seriously recommend this film, but don't expect to be blown away by the release.
If you already own this and have watched the features, CUT THE CHECK!

This is possibly the best ever super hero film. The Avengers about equals it I suppose. The plot is not important ie Hydra tries to take over the world by taking over SHIELD blah blah blah.We know Cap is not about to let that happen. However how he goes about stopping them with the help of the Black Widow and the Falcon is incredible. The action is simply mind blowing and for a change there is some character building.Chris Evans is a revelation bringing a sense of pathos not usually found in a movie of this type.I cannot see this movie being bettered but I hope it is as it would be something to see.If you see only one super hero film in your life it should be this one.

Captain America: The First Avenger was pretty low key. A little bit twee and humorous as well as largely harmless. At least Chris Evans (as with Rob Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth), proved a great casting choice for Marvel Studio’s juggernaut of heroes brought to life on the big screen. The thing was though, compared to the booming Iron Man films, the mega-popular Thor and the super hero blockbuster to end all blockbusters; The Avengers, Captain America’s origin movie was mainly uneventful, even for a “Phase 1” flick. But you can’t exactly make such a character that glamorous anyway can you? I enjoyed it and while it was admirable in forging its own vibe (that of a glossy WW2 matinee), it ultimately seemed plodding and lacking purpose. Ironic, considering it sets up a lot of the ground floor elements for the entire Avengers universe.

I approached this second instalment, The Winter Soldier, still with anticipation of where Marvel could now take their potentially most interesting Avenger, but also with a decent level of what I considered justified trepidation. After I sat through it however, the latter proved quite unnecessary. This film echoes the blueprint of the classic sequel, the distinctive second or ‘middle film’, and ends up being the most mature and one of the best executed of all ten films thus far released by the studio giant in their huge intertwined Avengers franchise. But let’s not forget that this is still yet another super hero film and a lot can be said for over-saturation. A tricky balance of making billions and satisfying fans is something Marvel seems to be successful enough at, usually by having sly wit and jaw dropping CGI to cover major hiccups or plot holes.
