But it soon transpires make up is not the only product they're selling, the company is involved in an international drug-smuggling ring and Patricia finds herself doing battle with ruthless agents. Caprice 17 Feb 2007
Format:DVD
An extraordinarily funny and heart warming story about Doris Day who gets caught up in a net of lies and is mistakingly taken for a spy of a rival cosmetic company. She is thought of wanting to steal the secret recipe for a water deterrent hair spray and has to find a way out of this mess. On the way she falls in love with an interpol agent who happens to be entangled into the same mess...

Absolutely hillarious, what a pity it is not available on the European market.

CAPRICE,1967,colour,is an excellent action spy thriller,co-starring legendary greats DORIS DAY & RICHARD HARRIS.
Patricia "Pat" Foster[Day]a beautiful middle-aged blonde is an undercover agent arrested while attempting to sell the secret formula
of a revolutionary new cosmetic to her employer's rival. Thus becoming a pawn in a ruthless war between to vast cosmetic
empires. Pat,attracts the dubious attentions of a double agent,Christopher White[Harris],it soon emerges however that Pat
is out to avenge the death of her father,an Interpol agent recently murdered on a Swiss ski run while on the tracks of a
narcotics ring. After herself being saved from a similar fate by Christopher in a helicopter,Pat then reveals that the cosmetic
concern is merely a cover for distributing narcotics, and exposes the arch-villain. Naming Stuart Clancy[RAY WALSTON]as the villain
and he then kidnaps her. Patricia is saved via a helicopter-which lands on top of the Eiffel Tower in France.
Pat and Chris are then reunited for a night of romance. CAPRICE has plenty of action-an enjoyable spy thriller. Also stars EDWARD MULHARE
as Sir Jason Fox,amongst a good supporting cast.
Regards,Bill.

Caprice is a film known for a couple of reasons. It was the last film for which Fox used Cinemascope and it's a film that co-star Richard Harris refused to ever watch. It is most notorious for Doris Day fans however, because after reading the script Day told her husband that she was thankful she doesn't have to make movies like this anymore. Her husband though, who was also her manager aswell as her power of attorney, had to tell her she had already been signed up. Despite the lack of love for the film from the main stars, it isn't that bad but I can see why they hate it. Although the comedy elements failed to make me laugh, I did get some enjoyment from the rather silly storyline, but the storyline is so silly, it works against the cheesy elements at times. There are a lot of missed opportunities for making fun of spy movies, especially for a time where the Bond films were starting to make their mark on cinema screens, and none of the cast seem particularly interested. Yet, I couldn't bring myself to dislike the movie. Scenes are generally well shot, it is quite well edited and the music was well selected. It's worth a very low end rental. 2.5/5
