While there have been a few Ford Capri books released in the last several years, this one by Haynes is a worthwhile addition for any Capri enthusiast. While a lot of books of this type seem to use the same press photos etc., this one by Martyn Morgan Jones has many that I have never seen before and most are in great color. The book also includes some examples of the advertising which was very interesting.
Since the Capri is so popular in the UK, most Capri books are centered around the models that were sold there. This one being writen by a UK author does cover those, however he also includes the history of the Capri in the USA, which were sourced from Germany. In addition, Norm Murdock from Capri parts supplier Team Blitz was a contributor, and supplied much of the material and pictures about the Capri in America, so the information is quite accurate. The book starts out with the history of the Mustang, and how that successsful concept was relevant to the development of the Capri as Ford wanted to manufacture a "European Mustang." The book also covers each generation (Mk. I, II,& III), motorsports, tuning and modifications, and buying, owning & restoring.
I personally could have done without the last chapter concerning the Capri's successors, but it hardly detracted from the quality of the rest of the book. I would recommend this for anyone who once did or currently owns a Capri (or wishes they did!)
