Product Description

Over the last 30 years the capital markets industry has undergone an unprecedented transformation, from an industry of capital restrictions and limited hedging instruments to one that is now as wildly diverse as it is dynamic. The increasing complexity of the markets has left many individuals struggling to keep up with the rate of change and ever-growing options available to them.  Capital Market Instruments enables you to keep on track with the latest developments. It contains valuable insights into practical techniques and applications used today, as well as shedding light on what can be expected in the future. It also highlights the scope and significance of these techniques in the marketplace.  As a concise introduction to some of the important issues in the capital markets, it places emphasis on fixed income instruments and related products, as well as covering fundamental concepts in equity market analysis, foreign exchange and money markets, and other derivative instruments. Capital Market Instruments will prove an invaluable guide for practitioners and students alike, enabling readers to understand the latest instruments and models, and apply methods that will keep them abreast with the latest market practices.

The book also includes the RATETM specialist computer application designed to introduce readers to yield curve modelling, vanilla interest rate swaps and caps. The programme makes available the C++ source code.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book with highly accessible content., 5 Feb 2002
This review is from: Capital Market Instruments (Paperback)
There are many books available on capital markets. The thing that usually distingiushes one from another is how accessible its content is.
This book not only provides good content but it makes the content highly accessible. There are loads of examples, diagrams and formula that helped me come to grips with market instruments. The C++ source code provided with the yield curve programme is really helpfull in gaining a practical insight into a yeild curve implementation. If you really want to understand yield curve construction its all there."

1.0 out of 5 stars Basic, 5 Jan 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Capital Market Instruments (Paperback)
This is a basic book that may be good for new people in the market, but professionals will find this lacking.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor coverage, 24 Feb 2004
By Soner Tunay - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Capital Market Instruments (Paperback)
This is a very introductory book for practitioners who do not know the very basics, such as 'models', 'regression', etc.
The content overlaps with the author's other text Bond Market Securities. Corresponding chapters are identical.
Better alternatives are Jarrow, Hull.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for new recruits, 24 Jan 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Capital Market Instruments (Paperback)
Because it covers most of the financial instruments that we are dealing on our trading floor, we have decided to offer it as a gift to all new recruits.
It is always difficult for new comers to quickly become knowledgeable about many financial instruments at the same time.

"Capital Market Instruments: Analysis and Valuation" provides all the necessary information to help them become real practitionners within a short time frame.

I would personnaly recommand this book.
