After the poorly received "Byrds" reunion album in 1973 the 5 original members went there own way. In 1977 McGuinn, Clark & Hillman went on a tour but with each member fronting their own band. This ultimately led to the self titled "McGuinn, Clark & Hillman" album which was a late 70's sounding fairly anonymous pop/country album. They deliberately avoided the trademark Byrds sound but failed to find a suitable substitute. The following year saw the 3 reconvene for the better "City" album but Clark soon encountered his problems of old and went missing leaving him to appear on only two tracks. In 1980 with Clark now totally gone McGuinn & Hillman recorded their self titled album which was mostly polite R & B covers. All three of those albums are present on this double CD compilation. As such it is good value for Byrd fans wanting to complete their collection of the members off shoot activities but otherwise for new entrants go back and get an original Byrds album.

Whatever the reason thse three got together for, I still regard it as a Byrds reunion of sorts with some reasonable songs well worth a listen.

At last the three albums all in one disc. My vinyl albums are well worn and this is a welcome addition to my Byrds and related collection. Full marks to Capitol.

It says here the third album was a set of R & B covers but all songs from what were 3 albums are the work of the 3 ex Byrds involved.
Its pleasant enough without being world shattering and thankfully avoids disco and other horrors
