Product Description

The Cape Verde Islands are a destination with a difference, a distinctive blend of European and African cultures whose unique hospitality is encapsulated in the Creole word morabeza. These magical islands are soaring in popularity, with property construction, flights and international arrivals rocketing. British and Irish second-home investors are discovering the potential of these beautiful, burgeoning islands and this fifth edition provides practical details on purchasing property, exploring the spectacular landscape and travelling between islands. From the long stretches of shimmering, sandy beaches of Boavista to the lush green peaks and valleys of Santo Antão, Cape Verde has something for everybody. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

We purchased this guide prior to our recent holiday to Cape Verde as we had read and heard very mixed reports.Excellent accurate information in all sections. I particularly enjoyed the history section and it gave a good insight into the troubled background of the Islanders. They are lovely mixed race people and very warm & welcoming.
If you are unsure if this is the place for you to visit this book gives a real insight into all aspects of life on the various Islands.
Beware if you want hectic & noisy this place is not for you, it is tranquil and unspoilt at present but a lot of developement planned.
We saw most of the island of Sal and knew where to go for best days out.We found the restaurant guide particularly helpful and the language section although most of the locals seemed to speak good English.
We will be visiting other islands now as we are keen to explore after reading this guide. Go while it is still peaceful - it will change !!

I'm just back from Cabo Verde, where I travelled in the company of this guide-book,
which was an excellent support. There's no guide on the market as good as
this, and having heard of Bradt Publications the first time, I will definitely
specifically look for their books in the future.

I have just returned after 24 super days in 6 of the islands. The guide was most helpful and the only one I could find in English.

Good, honest guide
Having spent a week in Boa Vista recently we found this guide very honest. Obviously written by people who know the Islands well and love them. Would recommend.

Nice read
Interesting and nice read for home - do not take it with you to the trip though. Good for what it is, but if you are looking for a guidebook, try the Bradt one.

Very useful guide
We went to Sal and bought the guide just before leaving. The view we add from the plane before landing matched exactly what was described in the guide. Read more
