Product Description

Detailing Dante's early years and set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC Devil May Cry will retain the stylish action, fl uid combat and selfassured protagonist that have defi ned the iconic series but inject a more brutal and visceral edge.

The Dante of DmC is a young man discovering and coming to terms with what it means to be the child of a demon and an angel. This split personality has a major impact on gameplay with Dante being able to call upon angel and demon abilities at will, transforming his Rebellion sword on the fly to dramatically affect both combat and movement.

For DmC Capcom has teamed up with UK development studio, Ninja Theory, renown for delivering action titles with compelling characters and narrative coupled with high production values. The combination of Ninja Theory's expertise and Capcom's unrivalled heritage in producing combatfocused action titles will ensure that this latest addition to the multi-million selling series will remain true to the Devil May Cry DNA so cherished by the fans, while bringing a new level of cinematic quality to the title.

  • Do it with style: Utilise Dante's Angel and Demon powers to chain together ground based and aerial combos to achieve the best style ranking
  • Who is Dante: Explore Dante's early years in a gripping narrative featuring familiar faces from the series alongside all new characters
  • Unbridled action: The intense and iconic sword and gun based combat returns with the addition of new weapons all designed to dispatch the demonic spawn back to hell with style and panache
  • Retaining the Devil May Cry DNA: Capcom staff, including team members from previous Devil May Cry titles, have been assigned to the project from the outset to ensure DmC is a true addition to the Devil May Cry franchise

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
DmC is the latest game in the Devil May Cry series, effectively acting as a reboot for the story. The installation (I got it on DVD for the PC - Windows 7) was tedious in the extreme, installing various things before the game itself installs. Then when Steam opens it for the first time, it installs more things on top of that. I'm sure it's necessary but it felt like it went on forever. Anyway, enough preamble.

The graphics are stunning and the gameplay is as fluid as previous instalments. Any fears of new developer Ninja Theory messing the franchise up have to be dispelled completely. The combination of swords/gauntlets/scythes/ages and guns make gameplay extremely varied and there are ridiculous numbers of combinations of moves to perform. The story is fairly one dimensional, and the script won't be award winning. The voice acting is well done however, and Dante has some good one liners. There are 20 levels in total, some are longer than others, but all look stylish and amazing on the eye.

There are several levels of difficulty. Human (easy), Devil Hunter (medium), Nephilim (hard), Son of Sparta (very hard), Dante Must Die (ridiculously hard), Heaven or Hell (you need to be sectioned) and Hell and Hell (you have been sectioned).
Son of Sparta is available after completing the game on any of the three levels before it, whilst Dante Must Die whilst Heaven and Hell, are available after completing Son of Sparta, whilst Hell and Hell is available after Hell and Hell.

The game is incredibly short. I finished it in less than 10 hours on the Devil Hunter difficulty, and that includes replaying some of the earlier missions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic game 30 July 2014

First of all I have to say that a gamepad is a must for any game in this vein...

This is personally one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have had in a very long time. The story is a bit predictable but enjoyable nonetheless. The graphics are stunning to look at and I personally did not notice any bugs with them. The combat is solid and really drags you in to trying to pull off an awesome combo; and when you do it makes you feel like a badass. It is a decent length with 20 levels and on Devil Hunter (medium) it takes around 10 hours. However after this you unlock a new difficulty called "Son of Sparda" and this is effectley very hard (one above hard). I have just started a play through on this and it is even more rewarding than the first play through.

I would say this is definitely worth the price, going to remember this game for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Give it a chance 14 Mar. 2013

A lot of people have slanted this game because it's not like the original.

As soon as I started playing I couldn't stop. The graphics are really something. It's fun. Story is a bit ok, nothing special but keeps you engaged to want to carry on.

The music is different but I enjoyed it.

The boss fights were amazing!

I gave it 5 stars because I think the amount of effort that went into the game deserved it. Graphics, Music, Gameplay. The story might not be a 5 for me personally but it didn't effect me enjoying the game.

The more you play it, the better it gets which is awesome. Some games I've played are just great at the beginning to drag you in but become empty after a couple hours, this was a non stop action packed game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Pulpy Fun 5 Dec. 2013
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
DMC on PC is another great reason to own a gamepad. Score-attack combat games really don't lend themselves well to keyboard and mouse control and this is no exception, so don't try it without.

DMC is a reboot of the Devil May Cry series, meeting as we do a young, unformed Dante who's on a mission to find out who he is, discover his family, get revenge and also bang seven bells out of every supernatural monster that stands in his way. It feels the same yet better and more fluid than the previous franchise entries I've played to boot.

Along the way, Dante will gain an impressive arsenal to dispatch his foes. He starts with his oversized sword and his guns (pretty useless except for keeping baddies at a distance) but soon starts to collect Devil weapons (which are slow, devastating hitters designed for close range hammering) and Angel weapons (fast, light-damage ranged tools which are ideal for giving you space). The trick with DMC is to use all of your weapons in every encounter, as points are awarded for combo attacks.

It's here that DMC shines. Creating a hugely violent combo is enormously satisfying, ripping your foes out of the sky, smashing an axe into them before hopping into the air, lifting your next victim with you before unleashing a blue whirlwind and battering them into a wall with possessed boxing gloves. It's chaotic, colourful and cartoonish but never lets the black humour of it's lurid death-dealing slip so it remains fun and battles never become tiresome. Yes it's very violent, but sort-of schlocky while it's there. It's even fun to return to earlier chapters you've already completed once you've expanded your moveset so you can beat your earlier score.
