5.0 out of 5 stars Patience reaps rewards 26 Oct 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Games like this take time to mature....too many people who play these types of games want to win straight out of the box....where is the reward in that? Building up your reputaion in the game and winning 'on merit' (not just because you have the fastest bike to outweigh the lack of skill that most have) is a lot more fulfilling. :~)

5.0 out of 5 stars It's great once you get into it. 8 April 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The online mode really is loads of fun. At first I struggled with the game a little, but after playing it for a few hours it became really addictive. Maybe it's not for hard core bike fans, but if you want a game that's fun and easy to get into, then this is the one. I've owned all the previous Moto GP games and this is simply the best yet,

2.0 out of 5 stars Rent it first, may not be your cup of tea 23 Mar 2010
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
After looking at previews and the like, I thought that MotoGP would be a huge step up from what was really an annoying outing in 08. The extra options in career mode are a plus - like sponsorships, staff, picking your machine and liveries - but thats really where the good bits end. The gameplay can only be described as arcade style, even more so that 08. You can open the throttle fully coming out of a corner and not worry about the back end kicking out in the slightest. The controls are far too twitchy for my liking, and although they have loads of different controller layouts, I'd like to create my own. Its a bit annoying that you have to go through a career (or championship, it is escapes me at the minute) and finish at least 3rd at the end to unlock the MotoGP class in quick race. I can understand it in Career but what if someone just fancies a quick race on the fastest bikes? I don't mind so much, but some people don't fancy going through the career just to race as Rossi, Lorenzo, Stoner etc.

If you own SBK 09, stick with that and see what SBK X brings. Just seems like the idea was right with this game, but it just wasn't done as well as it could have been. Some people may like it its just not for me

1.0 out of 5 stars Going backwards 27 Mar 2010
Huge disappointment. Moto GP 07 for PS2 was a great game as was the SBK 08 for PS2.
SBK 09 seems pretty good too, I'm just getting to grips with it.
This game is a huge step backwards from any of those titles with very little realism or feel. A couple of the online reviews I read before purchasing mentioned that the movement felt more like riding a jet ski and I see now what they mean.
One of the things I enjoy with racing games is playing time trials with friends trying to beat the fastest ghost lap. Even this is not possible with the ghost coming level at the beginning of every sector.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as 08 game 1 April 2014

This game has a lot of things that are annoying about it, if you want to ride as your fav rider you might not be able too. Most riders are locked, so you have to choose someone else until you unlock the rider you want. The career mode is an improvement on the previous game, but it depends if you are into managing a team or weather you just want to race bikes. For me it is not so easy to control the bike, it is way too easy to over steer the bike and go off track and this can get very annoying. The lines can be annoying, but you can remove them. They are good for 124 & 250 though, cause it teaches you where to brake and when to keep the throttle pinned.
Another downside is the amount of time you have to qualify and practice. The best thing to do is go into time trial and learn everything before you go and qualify, cause you only get 3 laps if your lucky. I guess Motogp has been designed more for people that just want to race, rather than people that like the whole program. SBK 09 offers full practices and qualifying and even morning warm up, this gives you plenty of time to figure out the track and set the bike up. If you like things that are more true to the sport then this is the game. If you just like to skip all this and just race, well SBK 09 is still better. This one is still ok and at some point you can race as your fav, but I dont get why they didnt let everyone do it straight away. This has never been done before, and I dont like it. Of course if you prefer career then this doesnt matter.
This is not a bad game, just for me has not gone in the right direction from the previous version. Hope the next one will be a lot better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Moto GP 14 April 2012

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
So i bought this game as it was at a bargain price.

Now the game is good but its not excellent and ill tell you why.

Firstly its abit tricky to play for example as soon as you come out of a bend you need to lean forward to take the bike as fast as it can go problem with this is when your leaning forward on the bike you cant steer so if you go on grass you slow down massively and then it takes a few seconds to build the speed you have lost.
The thing that annoys me most with the game is the handling of the bike is very loose for example you can slightly go right and the bike leans so much that you have turned too far so your constantly on the grass.
Please dont get me wrong im not saying dont buy it the only thing id advise is buy it as a lads night in kind of game not a serious play all the time game purely because altho the intentions are good the game just doesnt cut it for that.

3.0 out of 5 stars What went wrong? 24 Nov 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I am gonna be generous and give this game 3 stars, only because I am a fan of the series but not this turkey.

What you get is a championship mode where you can take part in a 125, 250 and Moto GP championship as a rider of your choice. No frills, bog standard racing. You get a career mode where you ride as yourself from the 125cc championship to Moto GP. Progress via reputation. You also get an arcade mode which is the same as a championship mode but with checkpoints and continues if you don't pass through the gate in time. Also a multiplayer.

Graphics are not great but a slight improvement over 08. I think the bike/riders look out of proportion though. Sound is like a battery operated ladies toy and handling is woeful. The bikes bank side to side like a flipper on a pinball machine. Nonsense.

Apart from the whole amateurish presentation, deliberate to make it more appealing to noobs, the game is not a patch on 08 which I thoroughly enjoyed. In career mode you can hire staff but bike upgrades take ages and the cash you earn has little use. The AI is a bit frisky and clearly set to catch up and boost on the last turn. Very frustrating and only 3 views one of which on the bike.

The thing that bugs me is the need to tuck in. On your bike, your rider sits like he is playing the piano unless you hold a button to tuck in. This does generate speed and is necessary to compete. However, it is another button you have to hold for most of the race! You don't even need to brake. Release the button and piano man sits up with the same effect as deploying a brake chute.

Monumental got this badly wrong. Avoid and go for 08 or splash out a bit more and get the sequel 10/11. The DLC is worth downloading as it provides the 10/11 season as well as the 09/10 that comes with the game.
