This boxed set is made up of three DVDs which have been made at different times and subsequently brought together in a collection.

The first - Eric the King - is a winner, and worth the price of the whole collection on its own. It was made in 1995 by Director Sophie Manham, who went on to make documentaries for television, and it is a 'proper' film. It is well constructed and directed, with excellent interviews - especially with Sir Alex Ferguson and Cantona himself. It tells the story of Cantona's move to Old Trafford and his first two glorious seasons. It is full of insight, with Cantona speaking eloquently about English football, himself and Manchester United. Although a little overlong at 90 minutes it is utterly compelling, and the football clips are superb - including footage that doesn't just relate to goals.

The second DVD is called Cantona Speaks and picks up the story. It covers his infamous kicking of a fan at Crystal Palace (though oddly for such a definitive collection it doesn't use a clip of the moment), his subsequent ban, and then his return the following season. This film is as poorly made as the first one is good, but the sheer amount of interview with Cantona, plus the football action and its relative brevity at 45 mins, make it ultimately worthwhile.

The third DVD - Au Revoir Cantona - is a shocker. It is a sloppily made canter through all the previous material, plus a little on his final season at the end. At 75 minutes it tests the patience of even a die hard Man U fan like me, and I would advise you to skip to the last 15 minutes, just to watch the action from the final season.

A mixed bag then, but the first DVD alone makes it a must-have not just for Cantona and United fans but for anyone who longs to hear a footballer able to articulate his love of the game.

Fantastic 8 Aug 2007
This really is an amazing collection. If, like me, you worshiped Eric when he was around you won't go wrong with this DVD set.

It includes the infamous kung-fu kick, the comeback penalty against Liverpool, the Seaguls follow ze trawler comment, the FA Cup final goal, interviews from other legends speaking about Cantona and all of the amazing goals that this great man has scored and setup. Quality DVD

This ser is execllent value for money and if you are a Cantona (or Manchester United)fan I could not reccomend it enough. Even non Cantona or untied fans may be interstyed in this set as Cantona as a person os very interesting and his football is glorious. My brother who hates Man United and is a Massive Liverpool fan thought this set was great. If you have no interest in football then this is not for you.

The only critism I have of the product is that it covers the kings reigh at Manchester United very well but does not really show anything about his carrer before. I know a lot of people may be thinking that it doesnt matter but having seen the earlier Cantona vhs Ooh Aah Cantona - The Cantona Phenomenon [VHS] The story of his career in french football and his time at Leeds United is very intersting. I think that this set would have benifited from including a dvd of the above.
