5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! 23 Mar 2011
By Lincs Reader TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This scanner really is a great little tool - especially for the home office when space is at a premium, and if you need to scan whilst on the move, it is the perfect tool.
It's sleek and attractive, easy to use - the perfect scanner!
The scanner has an automatic duplex - it scans both sides without having to re-insert the document and holds up to 20 pages at a time - and it's so tiny, folds down to just under 10cm.
It runs from a single USB port and you can use the mains too.
I expected it to be a little slow, but it was really fast and seemed no slower than larger scanners that I've used. The documents went through smoothly, with no creasing or jamming and the quality of the scanned picture is top class.
Very very simple for anyone to set up and to use - I didn't have to use the enclosed disc when using the scanner with my notepad, it was all up and running within minutes.
This is an excellent product, sleek and attractive, easy to use with great quality finished products.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paperless, yes please! 30 Mar 2012

I was looking at the Fujitsu Scansnap products as i had them recommended to me, however i saw this scanner mentioned on evernotes forums, and after a bit of research decided this was the scanner for me as it is faster and cheaper than the ScanSnap S1300 and has standard twain drivers and i got a discounted price from amazon.

When i first set it up and installed the software my heart sank as it reported an error on every scan and failed to scan anything, but after a reboot it has been rock solid ever since. the design of this product is spot on and the size of it is dinky. and to scan into Evernote (which is where i wanted my scans to go) this product in my eyes is unbeatable.

the speed of it is fantastic, on its first outing i scanned over 2000 bills that i had lying around the house in less than two hours, all i can tell you is it took longer to shred them than scan them.

towards the end of the mammoth scan task the scanner did double feed the documents, but i removed the feed roller and the seperator pad and washed them as they had accumulated a bit of toner and dust from the paper, and there has been no more double feeds since. the consumables for this scanner are dirt cheap unlike the scansnap consumables and i have already ordered a couple of seperator pads and feed rollers, but i doubt i will need them for a long time.

I love the fact i can just pop in the multi-page bill and hit the start button, and it scans the document performs full OCR and uploads directly into evernote and within 5 minutes i can see the new document on my ipad, it has totally revolutionised my life, no more searching for two hours through all my paperwork for that one bill or document.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal for going paperless with Evernote 10 Jun 2011
By AndyK
I bought this specifically to go paperless with Evernote, having attempted before with my "all in one" printer/scanner which gives you some document management features scan to directory etc.. it's still too cumbersome a workflow to make it usable day to day, the chore of filing was the same digitally was it was manually, for this to work it had to be as quick to scan as it is to file manually. The P-150 with Evernote helped me make this switch successfully.

The unit folds up into a neat little box, with PC on you can open it and it ready to go in under 5 seconds, scanning is very quick and double sided in one pass a real winner, auto correction for paper orientation speeds up the process. Fold the unit down and it powers off, so a whole 3 seconds to put away. Mine is attached to my PC all the time, but it's very portable, especially seeings it uses USB power no big lump of an adapter to lug around.

Software is pretty good, although for follow evernoters the software examples show Mac usage, running on a PC you first wonder if it actually works with Evernote, but a right click on the tray icon confirms it's all there. You can customise the software to do a one-touch scan and also setup additional profiles. I have a double and single sided direct to PDF profile setup making it literally one press to scan a complete doc direct into Evernote. Multiple profiles can be setup to scan direct to PDF , Jpeg etc.. You can setup to target whatever application you want but I have only used Evernote so far.

For me it has made my digitising workflow a reality, Evernote with is PDF and Picture search is the other side of the coin, and together it's a simply superb system. Bye bye box files and all my paper I really need to keep has been reduced to a single drawing in a filing cabinet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 3 Mar 2011

What can I say about this product other than that it is fan-bloody-tastic? I don't really know. I guess a quick run down will suffice...

- Scanning speed on the default settings is exceptional for a device being powered by USB alone. It slows down a bit when upping the DPI, but that's to be expected.
- Scans are crystal clear
- Sheet feeder works extremely well
- No software to install - can be run directly from the internal memory on the scanner
- Not as heavy as you might expect - I can carry this with a ton of books, stationary, and a netbook in a backpack all day

The only downside about this product is that you have to buy the case separately, and it is rather expensive from most places, but then that's not really a flaw with the scanner itself, is it?

I am a university student, and I use this thing every day, and I can honestly say that, overall, it is awesome. If you scan a lot of documents on the road, or are simply short of desk space in your office, the P150 is absolutely for you. If you are experiencing any doubt as to whether or not this scanner is to good to be true, take it from me - it's real, and it's awesome.
