Ultra fast print speeds
The print speeds of the PIXMA iP8500 are truly amazing, while still delivering superb quality. Print a full A4 photo in a fast 35 seconds. There's rapid borderless printing on 4 x 6", 5 x 7" and A4 sizes. For example, you can produce a glossy 4 x 6" borderless print in 21 seconds. The iP8500 also features a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface to transfer data speedily between your printer and computer.
CD-R/DVD printing plus more
This printer packs more features into less space. You can print image thumbnails or personal designs directly onto compatible CD-R and DVD discs. An integral duplex unit provides two-sided printing to cut your paper costs. This is especially useful for printing photo albums using double-sided photo paper. Plus dual paper trays, that fold away neatly, allow high capacity multi-path feeding for both photo and plain paper.
PictBridge-ready for easy camera direct printing
Print stunning photos directly from your camera quickly and easily - without even using a computer. The PIXMA iP8500 supports PictBridge, the universal standard for direct photo printing from compatible digital cameras and camcorders.
Waste-free single ink tank system
Transparent ink tanks for all eight colours can be replaced individually, reducing your costs significantly. Check at a glance when a single tank needs replacing. If there is insufficient ink, an intelligent ink detection system stops a page being printed.
Windows & Mac compatible
The PIXMA iP8500 is compatible with all popular Windows and Macintosh operating systems. To add to convenience, there are two USB ports at the rear of the printer - a standard USB plus a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface.

I started with the BJC 6000 a few years ago then upgraded to the S800. Each are great printers; the Pixma ip8500 is even better. The extra colour cartridges (Red and Green) really make a difference. Glorious prints, very quick and really quiet. An added bonus is that it looks good too. The supplied software is worth trying even if you have Paintshop Pro or Photoshop: the Easy Photoprint package is a joy to use. Overall an outstanding printerr.

As a keen and experienced amateur photographer I nearly gave up on getting good results from home printing. My experience with Epson (950) was always disappointing - complex set-up, excruciatingly long print times and lack-lustre results to boot at the end. This printer however never fails to surprise me - it's very fast, so quiet and the end product rarely fails to disappoint and if it does it's usually my fault! It's two trays are a bonus and it looks great. I use it with a Mac and iPhoto which makes a superb combination for the serious user.

Awesome prints, only one minor flaw,

This printer is, as some would say, da bomb.Printing pictures at 4x6", without a border, at so-called draft quality takes no longer than 15 seconds (add a few seconds for the printer to start and for the data to travel from the computer to the printer). In 95% of the cases I've tested there's so little difference between draft and high quality prints, nobody'll notice you're saving money on already cheap prints! Having the ability to place one size paper in the tray, and another in the sheet feeder is great. I can now print my pictures in two sizes without ever having to replace paper already in the printer. The 8 cartridges (CMYK + PM + PC + R + G) make for extremely vivid colors, and if one runs out you only replace that one. No more throwing away a 3-color cartridge when one of the colors has run out. We all know the inks are the most expensive parts anyway, even if this printer is quite economic in its use of ink. The only flaw is that you can't print directly from a memory card. Only cameras and digital camcorders that are Canon's PictBridge or Bubble Jet Direct compatible will be able to print directly to this printer. This printer has exceeded my expectations and I recommend it to everyone. Be sure only to use high quality photo paper though, like Canon's PP-101 line which I've tested with absolutely great results.
