I needed wide angle abilities to film a wedding with my HV20. I did some research and decided on this converter. I'm very glad I did, because it's a very good quality lens, and any distortion at full wide angle is only apparent in the corners of the frame. In a real world situation, you won't notice it. I find that the HV20 has far too much bias in the direction of telephoto zoom, and its wide angle abilities are rather poor, making filming indoors somewhat difficult. Since I bought this lens, I never have any reason to take it off, and mostly shoot with it at the widest setting. If there is any negative point, its that there is no filter thread or any standard way to attach a lens hood. However, since this is likely to be mostly used indoors, I don't think it'll prove too much of a limitation. This is not just recommended, it's essential.
