This printer uses dye sublimation which doesn't dry out of course. The quality of the prints is at least as hign as my old inkjet, which had a five colour cartridge plus B/W. The three dye sublimation films actually give a full colour range including a very good black. Print speed is good, despite the picture having to be fed through (automatically) 4 passes in total.
The very first print I produced did have a row of white dots down one side, which looked like they had been left by the teeth of the transport mechanism. No sign of them after that first one, though.
Only had it a couple of months so far so don't know how long it will last!
