No Brainer!
Plus points: Very easy to install, cheaper than replacing the cartridges on the old printer, multi-feed capability for large documents, good print quality.
Minus points: not the most compact

Bought it because I needed a printer fast and it was cheap. Everything works fine, but I've paid through the nose for the amount of ink cartridges I had to purchase since I bought it 3 months ago. Must have paid a few hundred on cartridges in that time period.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL. I am getting rid of it and purchased an HP 6500 all-in-one. Had something similar before the Canon and hoping that this will be cost-effective.

Only three stars because this huge printer with it's oversized footprint does dominate my desk.

Also the fax feature is very dated and a very unneccesary addition that I could have done without and maybe should have sought a different model that specifically excludes it; I ask you, why include a fax machine into the design of a modern printer in this age of scanners and fast internet - retro or what?@#! Maybe they think that some small busineses are reluctant to upgrade their software and/or operating systems, still using windows NT/2000? Whatever the reason, I have found the side tray useful for storing a stack of plain paper.

There is available for reasonable money than that offered by many vendors, the Canon 13ml colour and Canon 15m black cartridges, as those sold with the unit are almost there just for decorative purposes, containing just small amounts of ink. The print-outs on plain paper seem more that adaquate and scanned colour reproduction is super on plain paper though the sounds generated by the machine sometimes reminds me of a cement mixer and a power planer.

So, to recap:- It is BBBig, with a retro feature and quite noisey. Apart from that it is better than my old Epson RX425.
