This is an excellent camera but was let down by a bad design fault. The lens cover is not attached to the lens but to the external housing. It has to come off to prevent the mechanism being damaged when the camera is turned on. Therefore the cover has been made to come off very easily. I found it came off all the time when I didn't want it to and there is no facility to attach a filter to protect the lens. When contacting Canon about this they could not come up with a solution. I did however purchase another lens cover myself which was more secure but still did not jam the mechanism so problem solved. I have seen other reviews with the same problem mentioned. So it was not a one off. Apart from that I love the camera. Easy to use and very rewarding results.
My first 'proper' digital camera. Chosen firstly on budget and over others in the same price range because the screen can be folded away for protection, and that it runs on AA bateries.
Easy to use with enough features without being intimidating.
Only problem is that it will not take lens filters without a bulky adaptor being fitted first. Shame!
