Begginer's camera? I couldn't disagree more. Does almost everything my £200 canon compact can do including face detection and is just as good quality. If you want even more control then why are you using compacts?

Bought two of these for my children in a sale and very impressed indeed. Definately not children's cameras so they are very lucky indeed. I am not a novice camera user and own SLR's as well as compacts.

Does what a Canon does best, quality pictures.
Best point about it is you can still take picture in the middle of the desert, anyone and everyone sells AA batteries.
Out door shooting was good, but once you get inside the camera goes very slow. Not a good party camera at all, between shots i had to wait 20 seconds for the flash to charge, and by then the moments gone.
But hey sub £80, not bad.

The camera is, or maybe, simply wonderful for its price. But why is the instruction manual so hopeless? The fundamental clock/date set information is there, and so is the point shoot advice. But there is next to no guidance as to how one should find flash settings, macro settings, and so on. There are icons on-screen that are baffling because there is nothing in the written instructions to explain what they actually mean. Once again, we have an example of a manual written (?) by somebody who is only remotely connected, if at all, with the human race.

I bought this camera after seeing it recommended by a camera reviewer. He was right, this camera is easy to use and takes great pictures. the software that comes with it for uploading and editing your photo's is not the best I have used, but you can easily use one of the better editing packages instead. The camera itself is great and has lots of features which those interested in that sort of thing will enjoy using

A good budget Camera. Not the smallest. Takes disposable batteries, not a problem if you have a seperate charger and rechargable batteries. Most budget cameras seem to do this now.

Don't know anything about cameras but purchased the Canon powershot A480 recently. It ticks all the boxes for me and is all i need.Bought it because of the name Canon and good reviews. It was a good price at the time but had a wait for delivery(2 wks).Everything works as it should and optical zoom is good,i would recommend it.

This camera for the price must be the bargain of the xmas season. My friends have seen the pics and i have ordered 3 more for them, its simple to use,if its a drawback its the batteries, but get a couple of high capacity rechargeable and you have cracked it,400 pics from one charge

This is the first digital camera I have owned and was a bit apprehensive about it at first. The instructions were very clear and once I had set it up and practiced with a few trial shots, I was itching to use it on my holidays. What a difference a digital camera makes - you don't have to keep check on how many shots you have left on your film and no running out of film just when you find something interesting to record. When I downloaded my shots on to my computer I was amazed at the quality and sharpness of the views and wonder why I did not change my camera before now. A great buy for a senior citizen like me.
