i bought this to replace my hp 460,which had given up the will to live it was a bit battered and brussed. i need a battery powered printer with bluetooth, in some ways in better than the hp 460 in other its not, printing is faster but bluetooth comms is slower, quality is better than the 460, but the cannon it is slightly lager than the 460, portable battery powered printer are expensive by nature not sure why but they are, do not buy the cannon £80.00 bluetooth adaptor its a rip off, you do not need it, i paid £1.63 including delivery for a micro bluetooth dongle and it worked with no problems, what the discription does not tell you is thier is a compartment in the side for the bluetooth dongle so it does not protrude so when storing the printer in a bag you dont need to take it out incase it snap off, good idea, all in all pleased with this printer it does the job for me, and probilly the best one around if you do not need the battery or bluetooth just portability its still a good choice, not sure what has replaced the hp 460 but you might want to check the hp before commiting as i think this printer is a bit overpriced

This is an OK printer and you may see my full review under the Pixma ip100 main page. Having had this printer for about 2 months under warranty the battery stopped working. I told Canon that it could be a printer problem or a battery problem. Given Canon supplied on site repairs, they said that the battery was not under warranty and if an onsite repairperson came and found it was a battery issue rather than a printer issue, I'd have to pay for the visit. Instead, I opted to visit a Canon repair agent just outside the M25 so I would not have to pay for any visit. They diagnosed a battery issue. The replacement battery could be purchased there at around £70 but non refundable. This battery is not covered by the warranty and is thus irreplaceable free during the warranty period so you are probably better off not getting it with the battery that in any case adds weight to the printer. Unless you are in a coffee shop or out to impress friends, the loss of this mobile feature should not be too significant until Canon warranties the battery as well.

Small and Lightweight - much smaller than other I have looked at but works like a bigger printer and without issues

I bought it for occasional use and have not had issues with clogged up print cartridges after using it for the first time in several months

The official bluetooth add on is a rip off and hard to justify and not any old bluetooth adapator will work - I assume because the drivers have to match since the machine cannot go and get new drivers

But this one - which I read about elsewhere - works just fine and for a fair price - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Bluetooth-Adapter-Version-Class2/dp/B001NW746W/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1410764027&sr=8-3&keywords=hama+nano+class+2

The only downside - I have stick a bit of gaffer tape on to hold the printer flap shut when folded up - it has magnetic catch but that I feel that could just maybe come open and then get pulled off when moving around in a bag etc

I'm afraid I'm not a typical user of this printer because it never leaves our home. We live in a small bungalow and haven't got the space to conveniently have a full-size printer permanently set up, when we only use it about once or twice a week. This printer is small enough to put away in a drawer when not in use. A battery is included although I don't need to use it.
The quality of the print, text and photographs, is excellent so this printer ticks all the boxes as far as we are concerned.
I guess most users of this machine will print wirelessly but even so I was surprised that a USB cable was not included.

Having the occasional need to be able to print when away from home, I thought I'd give this a try. Lightweight and reasonably sturdy, it's doing a good job for me.

I bought this printer for my 'mobile office', I have a laptop, with a small Cannon scanner and this printer in a rucksack for when I am working out of a hotel or at site, so it doesnt see an awful lot of use as it really is just for when I am stuck.

It is surprisingly small, about the size of a large hardback book, and light weight, but it is very fast and produces good quality prints, the first thought that comes to mind when I use it is 'why are my other printers so big??' but then I only use it for printing documents, I have never tried photographs, these are left to my Epson R3000 A3 printer.

In retrospect I probably would not have got the version with the rechargeable battery, I guess I was thinking about being stuck in the middle of nowhere in the car with documents to print, but this has not happened yet, I have always had mains to plug into!

I guess what you gain with larger printers is seperate ink tanks and better quality prints and the ability to load more sheets of paper.

I would only recommend this to those who need something easily portable, for which I think it is absolutely perfect.

Unfortunatly, this printer, annouced as Bluetooth printer, needs an optional Bluetooth dongle to be installed inside the printer (or in the available lateral usb plug in the printer). Unfortunatly CANON sell it's Bluetooth dongle at about 100 Euro - unacceptable price.

Well i'm working with Windows 8.1 and I found a Bluetooth dongle absolutly compatible with the printer (and the Canon's dongle):

Hama Nano Bluetooth USB Adapter, Version 2.1+EDR Class2

You can find it here at amazon UK at about 10 Euro (8 £)
It works fine, error free, and according to Hama there is no need for driver for WINDOWS 8 (and I guess 8.1 too). The fact is It works without fault, with me. Simply ignore the CD that comes with the product (only for Windows 8, 8.1)

One issue tough: When pairing, I got a message that it couldn't find the drivers for the dongle. Ignore it. It will do the pairing anyway. Print something and it will work.
