Incredible quality and detail in seconds

Thanks to the 2 picolitre ink droplets from Canon's class-leading FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print engine which delivers a fantastic resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi, the PIXMA MX420 produces vivid, detailed photos and the crispest text. It can print a 10 x 15cm (4 x 6") borderless photograph in 42 seconds, giving you photo-lab quality output at incredible speed.

The PIXMA MX420 also has very fast document print speeds - 8.7 IPM† in black and white or 5.0 IPM† in colour. Plus, Quick Start allows almost instant operation the moment the power is switched on, meaning you never waste time waiting for the PIXMA MX420 to ‘warm up’.

Simple, user-friendly interface

The carefully designed operation panel offers a clear layout with controls arranged from left to right, plus it makes operation simple and user-friendly by grouping keys by function.

Thanks to a PictBridge connection you can also conveniently print photos directly from your digital camera, camcorder or camera phone - the large 6.2cm, TFT display screen lets you easily view, select and edit your images for simple computer-free printing.

Memory card support

The built-in memory card slots allow you to print and scan to or from all popular memory cards. This means that photos can be printed directly from the card so you don’t need a PC. You can print to the PIXMA MX420 wirelessly from any Wi-Fi enabled computer and its improved Wi-Fi support (Wi-Fi b/g/n CERTIFIED) enables more efficient Wi-Fi connectivity. Set up is easy from the menu screen and the PIXMA automatically searches for the wireless connection. The PIXMA MX420 also includes built-in Ethernet - a wired LAN interface that lets you connect seamlessly to an office network, so all the computers connected can share the power of PIXMA.

Fully Integrated ADF (Auto Document Feeder)

The PIXMA MX420's built-in fully integrated 30-sheet ADF allows batch copying, scanning or faxing of documents without having to load them one at a time. Alternatively, when scanning in several documents separately on the flatbed, Reserve Copy allows you to scan the next document whilst waiting for the first to be processed.

Because the ADF is fully integrated it lies flush with the body of the printer, meaning it's easier to fit into tight spots. A sloping front panel also allows for easy scanning and copying of over-sized and thick objects like books and folders.

User friendly printing

The PIXMA MX420 features a self-operating output tray - this automatically opens when printing or copying so you can print from anywhere in your home or office without having to get up to open the output tray yourself.

Automatically scans just about anything

Premium quality 2400 dpi scanning is quick, simple and easy with the integral Auto Scan Mode. It detects your original, e.g. photo, business card or letter, then automatically scans and saves the image with the appropriate settings, all without any prompt from you. You can also scan directly to a USB stick or memory card to quickly share scanned files and with the included Canon MP Navigator EX software you can convert hard-copy documents to searchable PDFs and add password protection.

High speed fax

The Super G3 Fax is fast and reliable. You can use it as a conventional fax or send faxes directly from your PC without printing the document first. It also features 20 coded speed dials and 50 page fax memory for increased efficiency. Auto Photo and Auto Document Fix

These built-in technologies automatically optimise the quality of photos and documents.

Based on Canon's market-leading intelligent camera technology, Auto Photo Fix II technology with Red-Eye Removal and Multi-zone Exposure Correction is perfect for your home photo lab as it automatically fixes your photos at the printer, giving you flawless results without the need for a computer. It categorises your images into one of five types - Portrait, Scenery, Night Scenery, Snapshot with Scenery, and Snapshot with Night Scenery - then applies optimal image and exposure correction. This means that unexposed areas of the photo will be optimised area by area and faces that are backlit and under-exposed will automatically be brightened with correct colour cast to help ensure more accurate skin tones for beautiful images.

Auto Document Fix optimises the quality of scanned documents in much the same way, area by area. It enhances the intensity and clarity of text, smoothes dots and maintains contrast and tone for images, as well as reducing show through for background areas.

Stylish, compact and tidy

This FREE in-box Easy-WebPrint EX software offers a range of options to help you organise the information you want to print from the internet and avoid wasting paper by printing the details you don't need. These include:

• Auto Clipping - print only the area of a web page you want
• Clip from Multiple pages - collect, combine and edit content from multiple web pages before printing

You can also print with an enlarged text size or reduce the size of the whole web page to fit it onto a single piece of paper for printing.

Solutions Menu EX provides easy access to the advanced features of your printer. The functions in each category are presented in easy to recognize pictorial icons and you can tailor your Desktop in order to quickly access the functions you want, when you want.

†Printing speeds explained: Canon measures its printing speeds in IPM (Images Per Minute). IPM is a new ISO speed testing standard, approved by the International Standards Organisation in March 2009.
